The Flying Lodge, which initially took the form of an episodic sound theatre of sorts; arrives at its conclusion with the release of Flying Lodge: All Stars - a compilation where a whirlwind of various sound narratives conjoin towards a celebration of queerness and ephemeral unity.

Within this compilation, GOLCE arranges into formation a playful prelude to clubbing, which is then followed by the jarring spearhead noise of Rosaceae, a hardcore disassembly of song structure. 

Tina DJ on the other hand creates a mechanized fictional landscape whose movements correspond to respective melodies, Semka follows suit and strips that correspondence down to abstraction.  

The finesse of PRICE which leads gracefully into a refined and ritualized romance is followed up by the drowned-out poetry of Ivye, expressed through an intimate recollection of isolated vocals and broken down rhythms.
Lastly the enmeshed vocals of Yesh, carry out a symphonic epilogue, heavied with R&B lyricism.

All Stars finds continuity in its doing and undoing of narrative; through creation and negation - it illustrates the aesthetic unity to be found in such unlikely timings as well as the invisible ties that bind us to one another.

i am in love with the tune of a song (and its melody/arrangement) that earworms into me as it has for years (since 2011); it would recur into my thoughts at random points in time throughout the most boring periods of my life as a leitmotif able to break me out of the spell of daily drudgeries of producing labor: such was the tune's triumphant power over me.

This month i finally rediscovered the song through somewhat tirelessly digital-archaeologically digging for it in past YouTube usernames, much to my delight as i had lost the artist name and title almost a decade ago. The song is by Icez and called 'StarHigh'. as i recall, i found this tune by way of learning about the 'Jerkin' sound/dance movement that was happening on the West coast around that time, originating in the LA area.

i felt like i had to create my own tribute to Icez and the event of their 'StarHigh' earworming me for so many years, after my rediscovery. so, in part using a free online tool for algorithmic track separation (s/o 2 @Gronos1 ), i did so. the materials used for the construction of this short movement were all gleaned via the algo track separator, then heavily manipulated and processed via DAW, including some of the glitches which that program seems to create 'accidentally' in its smoothing-out of the mixes of the given track it processes. i really wondered if one could purely derivatively create a new earworm by way of the original earworm, so this is my attempt to do so.

"Apulati Bien is back on Promesses with an 8 track EP called 'RER TRACKS'. All sketches of these songs were formerly composed in early 2017 during his RER journeys (Paris suburban train) on an iPhone 4 using field recordings from the phone and the iMPC app. Then put together and re-arranged some years later in his Brussels studio. 'OUEST' and 'Oz' contain vocal featurings (also recorded on a phone) from Mexican artist Vica Pacheco and Haitian MC Damoreless Zoekila."

Sunwarped Vol. 1 is a collection of works from 13 Arizona-based electronic artists of varying backgrounds and genres. All participating artists have performed at or been a collaborative part of the Sunwarped events and live shows that regularly occurred locally before the COVID 19 pandemic. All of the tracks by each of these artists were created between 2020 and 2021, most of which during the pandemic. This compilation is the first in a continuing series showcasing the diverse talent of this collective.

I am proud to release this compilation and to know and work with all of these artists. This collective contribution by fundraising through music is one small step towards long term collective change and justice.
