Colombo’s back at iBreaks with more breakbeat fatness on this two-tracker.

The aptly titled “This Is Awesome” brings the funk from the outset, with trademark swung beats under an eerie tension string.  Colombo raises the groove levels up with a low slung bassline, and every so often dropping into some classic breakbeats to keep things interesting.  The vocal sample reminds us that “this is awesome”, although there’s little need for a reminder!

“Do It Now” rolls in with a deeper vibe, still keeping that swung groove in the beats, but an altogether more laid back approach.  The bass is as deep as it gets, while big beat-esque funk and brass samples layer perfectly on top.  This one will make you forget the cold weather and take you straight back to the beach!

Qdup is back for summer and his booty-shaking 808-laced hip-hop breaks monster “Sonic Drop ft Awoke” has been remixed into three different directions, all of them destined to rock the dancefloor. The original version, with San Francisco b-girl Awoke’s fresh lyrics, has been doing damage all spring and now Qdup has enlisted some good friends to reinterpret his party anthem. The results are just as funkin’ delicious as you might imagine, Sonic Drop has truly been taken to the next level with these three remixes.
Label bosses Fort Knox Five slowed the tempo and dropped their signature electronic-meets-live instrumentation sound. Rob Myers, who also plays with the Thievery Corporation live band added some funky guitars to this stellar remix. Slyde cut their teeth releasing a string of bullets on the world-renowned Fingerlickin’ label. From their debut, ‘Slippidy Slide’ to the outrageous ‘Sex n Drugs’, to the huge ’Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’, each received extensive radio play on XFM, KISS 100 & Radio 1.

The duo have gained a reputation for innovative re-edits & bootlegs in their DJ sets as well as writing banging original tunes now released on their own offshoot label SLYBEATS. Their most recent smash single in May 2010, ‘Move Ya Body’ dominated the Beatport charts, staying at no.1 for weeks.

Slyde’s dynamic DJ skills have seen them in demand at the worlds coolest clubs & festivals, opening at Glastonbury for Annie Nightingale’s show on Radio 1, touring Australia, Asia & Canada, playing Glade, Miami WMC, parties in San Francisco for Burning Man & rocking the world famous Womb Club in Tokyo, whilst regularly smashing it on the London scene at Fabric, Matter & Ministry of Sound.

Slyde’s ability to push the boundaries resulted in the album ‘Everyone’s entitled to our Opinion’ which featured a whole host of vocalists from MC Sirreal to their long time collaborator, Jamaican MC Lady Posh. The album was hailed variously as ‘An Aural House Party’ (IDJ), ‘Exploring the outer reaches of Filthy Crunkin Electro’ (DJ mag) and saw the duo being dubbed ‘The New Kings of Electro Sleaze’ (F*@.K! magazine).
