To me the future's bleak, if you were me what would you do or be? From two or three trillion dollars out there isn’t there a few for me? Workin ain’t worth it when you think of what you earn, have to watch your wallet knowing every single buck you burn can leave you hungry as a motherfucker, struggling with eviction, or stuck with tryna rough it with a budget. It’s a bitch when every single penny that you get they make you pay the government and every penny that you spend the state'll take another cent. One percent are getting paid, the rest get wage cuts, but since the 80s middle class pay hasn’t changed much. I think if I could ever get my fucking mind together maybe one day somewhere down the road in time I’ll find a better life style, but right now we struggle in this world and days load a burden on a person with a little girl to raise, and I don’t give a fuck what law got broken to get what she needs. Officer, if you don’t have a warrant then fucking leave.

Some of us chose to get caught up in the streets, some of us chose to move higher. Some of us went on to platinum beats while some of us fell in the fire. I don’t know how I could let myself ever be burned by my own desire. Lord give me one more chance you will never see me fuck up my entire life.

So should I try to give a fuck or should I give it up? Shit is getting rough living in a never ending rut when simple stuff, like going to the cinema is tough and ending up a struggle just for us to spend a buck. Hell when I go out spending money I’m just hurting more. I still don’t see exactly what the fuck I’m working toward. Now a days it’s hard to keep from acting out of rage. I’m tired of lousy pay, how 'bout a raise? Happiness is never at its best when you ain’t having fun. I’m laughing some but more than half the time I’m acting glum, stressed or mad 'cause everything I have is next to last. Sometimes you miss the fact the more you want in life the less you have, and if the day comes you ain’t got no funds you’ll appreciate the things you take for granted when you’re handed shit the easy way, so straight up, fuck tryna get clever with the metaphors. When it comes down to it if I don’t get mine I’m getting yours.

Scrapin change to make a couple bucks to eat on, makin pallets cause there ain’t a bed for us to sleep on, hoping that the next check pays the bill and cuts the heat on, it may not suck to be home when you’ve got nice stuff but we don’t. Sleep and eating’s just another luxury that we don’t seem to have,
walkin a beaten path, trapped, you haven’t even seen the half. At last the past has come back to haunt me, and it’s taunting me every single minute that I walk in this hell called ‘life’. I failed myself, but still I breathe. I’m all I have. I try to tell myself how everything is gonna be fine. Blind is bliss, Jesus Christ, what kind of life is this? Exhaling a deep breath I let it fade away. Your bed is made, just try to lie in it and pray to wake to better days. There is no what if, no wondering what might have been, only a hope that God will give me one more shot at life again.

Father Funk is releasing his long-awaited debut album ‘Heavy Rotation’ on his favourite day of the year – 420! Not only is it his first full record but it is also the first release on his brand new label ‘Funk Therapy’. The new album will be available on April 20th in all major digital stores across 270 countries.  

After signing with legendary agency and former label Finger Lickin’, Father Funk quickly became one of the biggest names in Breakbeat and Ghetto Funk. Fresh off the back of two Canada tours earlier this year and the 1st anniversary of his own successful Bristol based night ‘Father Funk’s Church of Love’, the father has cemented himself as one of the freshest tastemakers in the UK right now.

Taking huge inspiration from the disco and funk sounds of the 70’s and 80’s he has been writing music for over 10 years having released 5 EP’s and numerous singles on labels such as Ghetto Funk, Adapted Records and Scour Records to name a few. His back catalogue includes remixes for the likes of Dub Pistols and Fort Knox Five including many bootleg remixes that have also amassed huge numbers on Soundcloud. 

This debut record is the first full release that is completely original and free from his best-known sampling work. It captures the energy of the funk and soul golden years whilst combining it with modern dance music and disco culture, not sticking to one particular genre. With over 3 years in the making the father has been able to collaborate with some of the freshest names in the scene, including London rap duo Too Many T’s, Ghetto Funk legends WBBL and Slynk, Canadian hip hop group Illvis Freshly and neo-soul singer Hilary Beckett.

Speaking on the new release Will Williamson aka Father Funk said:
“I think the album is a bit of a lost art these days, and as someone who still very much enjoys listening to them, I wanted to bring back this mentality of writing songs as a collective artwork, not just as floor fillers or money makers. ‘Heavy Rotation’ is not just for dance floors but for front rooms, backyards and long journeys. Gave this track a little remaster to try and get rid of some of the muddiness, My lack of EQ awareness in my early productions is very evident, But the idea was a solid one, And the track itself is pretty dope. And I learned alot making it.

Following the chart success of Prosper & Stabfiner's funk fused 'Fire in Me' EP, we now have a full remix ep from a collective of great artists who find ways to deliver a new take on the tracks. Moving the sound on in a more electronic direction, all 4 remixes keep the funk at their core. First up on the EP is an expertly crafted moombahtonesque rework from the enigmatic Loo & Placido which fuses Georges Perin's vocal lines with heavy rhythm and infectious carnival vivbes. This is set to do damage on many a dance floor. Next up, AGFA & Trotter deliver a funky breaks and electronica rework of 'Drive By Pony' which is followed on by Kibosh who are not not happy to remix just the one track but fuse two two together to make 'Fire My Pony', a funk exploration that incoporates Kibosh's forward thinking funked out, bass glitch sound. Rounding off the package superbly are Loïs (fr) & Bruckie who bring together a relentless acid groove to compliment Ashley Slater's blues soaked vocals to create another infectious monster.
