Episode 15 is the first cross-Nullarbor collaboration of the Caress Me series. Partially recorded on a crisp Djilba morning in Walyalup and completed over a locked down Wednesday evening in Gadigal country, with a high wind chill outside and a 4k fireplace on the tv. 

Sink on in into the next 2 hours as we traverse our way through some hints of the gentle and intimate.

If the first mix is the spiritual and centered friend you'll happily introduce to your parents, CD 2 is the kid your parents warned you about—the one who smoked cigarettes at school. It's a devilishly hard mix to deny, an adventurous ride through some of the dankest tech-prog the 2004 circuit had to offer.

Back then, this was the sound of the clubs. "It was that kind of style, you know, the late-night, after-hours vibe, like Twilo," Anthony recalls. The NY club was renowned worldwide for its pristine sound system and pure clubbing experience. "I had a monthly residency there, and the music on mix 2 featured that same kind of intoxicating, immersive vibe."

The latest in our Guest Mix Series features our close friend and collaborator, Still Waveley with a mix titled “I used to be a DJ/We need some more ghosts in here.” A true creative, Will isn’t just a seasoned DJ and promoter—he’s also a talented writer of poetry and prose. For this release, he went all out, in combining these forces, putting together a thoughtful mix with an accompanying piece of writing, and even, capturing the photography to match. 

When it comes to describing the music, his own words do it best. Take a moment to dive in—it’s worth it. It’s a new year, after all, and maybe you’ve promised yourself to engage more, read more, and listen more. This release is the perfect chance to do just that, blending rich writing with carefully curated sounds for a fully immersive experience.

In a way, we owe Will an apology. We strung him out. Sat on this mix for about a year and left him hanging. We know how that feels. It sucks, having your creative output silenced when you’ve made it under the pretence of someone else wanting you to make something for them. On the other hand, we came back to the mix, and to the writing, and thought, fuck. It’s really good. We knew that straight away, but - and not to make excuses - the wait somehow makes it better.

We’ll admit—we sat on this mix for way too long, and that wasn’t fair to Will. Creative work deserves to be shared, not left waiting on someone else’s timeline. But when we came back to it, we thought, fuck. It’s really good. We knew that straight away, but - and not to make excuses – sometimes the wait makes you see something with fresh eyes and hear it with fresh ears and the music and writing were a joy to revisit. 

Will, you may have found yourself in stable employment, but let’s be clear: you haven’t lost it. You’ve still got it, and whatever you choose to do, we know you’ll excel. Thank you for your patience and for being such a creative force. We’re so proud to finally share this with the world.
