Introducing Guest Mix #005: Half Frequency

This is a very special one - Half Frequency is a close friend, a collaborator, the other half of many an impromptu and promptu B2Bs with Smash & Grab, and a happy head above a steady pair of shoulders. 

He’s been doing it for longer than anyone we know. When we were still twiddling our knobs in our bedrooms - he was headlining nights in Scotland’s capital and since then, he hasn’t stopped. Spinning records in and about England’s capital now. A councilman in many capitals. 

This mix aligns closely with the things we love so much at Smash & Grab. If there’s another compliment I can pay Harv-  it’s that he has developed a serious passion for the history and culture of dance music. One that we’ve always held dear. It’s named the Underground Resistance mix, paying homage to the sounds and drums of the iconic Detroit Techno Collective. Sometimes you just can’t beat the classics, eh? This mix lurches through iconic artists and underground sounds that would quickly get a dance floor undulating in 1980s Detroit and 2020s London. If only Detroit were a capital city. 

Mr. Half Frequency also runs a night for @dragonflymusic___ (IG.) A charity night whose entire profits go to supporting young people’s mental health. You don’t need me to tell you how important that is. Setup in memory of a very special person, this charity is also totally self-autonomous - so they know exactly where the money goes. Taking it into your own hands, another thing we truly value at S & G. Over to you Half.
