Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Timmy Trumpet, given their similar stature in the industry after such long and illustrious careers, have collaborated plenty of times in the past. Including releases like 2021’s ‘Feel Your Love’ and 2020’s ‘Der Alte (The Anthem)’, to name just a couple. At this point in their careers, these two acts need no introduction, but they both show no signs of slowing down, with a solid year of releases and collaborations under their belt for 2023. This time around, the two all-star acts of the scene enlist the help of three more artists to manage the load! You may be aware of Brennan Heart through his contribution to another Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Timmy Trumpet collaboration in ‘Sweet Caroline’, which has had massive success across the global EDM circuit. Since then, the Dutch producer has gone from strength-to-strength in the industry, hence why he’s landed another feature placement with the two legends!

These three EDM acts are already a force to be reckoned with. Still, when you add the unique expertise of producers Darius & Finlay, the project becomes one with incredible depth and imagination. Darius & Finlay add a classic feel to the project. The legendary German dance music duo are no strangers to a big track and show their unquestionable pedigree on ‘Explode’!

Wasting no time enjoying the spoils of their victory as the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Poll’s #1, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike return to the studio to take on Ummet Ozcan & Brennan Heart in a clash of the titans ‘Beast (All As One)’. The track is set for release on 15th November and marks the duo’s first release since winning the coveted top spot. 

Kicking off with shimmering keys, the singalong melody is ushered in with a chorus of “ladies and gentlemen”, before Dimitri & Mike’s signature big build loads up the confetti cannons. In classic fashion, the melody returns and is turned-up-to-ten, while this instant big room flavour gives us a taste of what will surely be soundtracking next season’s festival mainstages. A second refrain of the track’s conclusion gives us an audible insight to Ummet’s Ozcan’s electro and Brennan Heart’s hardstyle sensibilities, before the celebratory double-collab bows out as confidently as it began. With this summer’s all-star flavour of the season ‘Instagram’, which features David Guetta, Afro Bros, Daddy Yankee and Natti Natasha, surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify and 33 million views on YouTube, Dimitiri Vegas & Like Mike once again prove their genre-crossing capabilities on the track in question. With a number of high-profile collaborations already accrued this year in addition to ‘Instagram’, including the hit ‘Best Friends Ass’ with Paris Hilton, Belgium’s favourite brothers continue to push boundaries and utilise their network of the biggest names to innovate and provide fresh cuts with each release.  Add to the mix their involvement in the critically-acclaimed Mortal Kombat series’ latest iteration and celebrating 15 years of Tomorrowland along with 360,000 revellers, it is no surprise the boys ran away with the title of #1 DJ’s in the world after such an impressive year.

Fans went crazy when Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike teamed up with Quintino in March for the release of ‘The Chase’, and now they are set for more excitement as Klaas and MATTN come together to rework a fresh cut that breathes new life into the original. This remix isn’t the first time the pair have brought their musical prowess collectively in the studio, as both artists have combined for other anthems such as ‘Children’ alongside Roland Clark, which also dropped on Smash The House. 

The remix retains the catchy melody of the original, presenting it in a new way with a string version. Synthesized elements creep in as the track builds in the breakdown, constructing a transition that leads towards the driving electronic drop. The beat consists of a fast-paced rhythm set by the punching bassline and arpeggiated lead. The trio of Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike and Quintino come together for their first release of 2021 on Smash the House records. ‘Back To The Oldskool’ is a combination of their many years, and various influences, following their musical passion, dance music! 

From its Thunderdrome-esque intro to the building ravey bass rumble which is ignited by Hot Streak’s iconic 1983 Body Work sample “Music Makes You Lose Control”, that’s been a prominent feature on every dancefloor imaginable. The track launches into a techno-infused dose of industrial arrangement, with faint hardcore sonics, before combining in the break and then unleashing its total might with a gusty psy-trance bassline to round up the songs trip ‘Back To The OldSkool’.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike remained ever busy in 2020 with an impressive output of music coming from the Belgian electronic titans. From releasing singles such as ‘The Anthem’ with Timmy Trumpet and ‘Clap Your Hands’ with Fedde Le Grand and W&W, to dropping ‘Get in Trouble’ with Vini Vici. The brother also released a collaboration with Regard titled ‘Say My Name’ which currently sits at 38 million Spotify streams. Dimitri & Mike also teamed up with Mexican singer/influencer Kimberly Loaiza and Belgian producer Azteck for ‘Do It!’. The single received over 50 million TikTok views within 24 hours and has so far received more than 235 million views on the social media platform; leading it to trend in Latin America and the US. From headlining Tomorrowland – Around the World digital festival during the summer and then featuring again for Tomorrowland’s New Year’s Eve digital edition, the brothers did their best to ensure that fans had much to party about during the lockdown period. Even dropping an all-star Christmas album via their label Smash The House.

Fellow collaborator Quintino’s is one of the most prominent faces in the Top100DJs Poll. From dropping his long-awaited debut album, ‘Bright Nights’ at the tail end of 2019, which was met with a wave of fan support earning an impressive 100million+ streams by the summer of 2020. Quintino was also working hard in the studio on new material tracks like ‘Get You Home’ and ‘Out of This World’ feat KiFi on Spinnin’, ‘Ruins’ on Smash The House and his remix of Tiësto and Vintage Culture’s ‘Coffee’ for Musical Freedom. Quintino closed 2020 with a feature on the Smash The House Christmas album.
