“All that jelly and no toast” - like when you find a bomb tune that's unreleased, deleted or totally scratched & distorted. “All that Jelly” by “Smile for a while” is exactly for tracks like this: Clubby House Music by well-established producers but also from lesser-known guys + remastered gems from the 1990s. Every tune has its own story and is more than worth the black gold treatment.

“The Klubb Kidz” was a short-lived project by Peter Primiani and Tyrone Solomon. Between 1993 and 1995 they released three records on DJ Duke's “Power Music” and on “83 West.” It's that typical mid-90s Jersey House with lotsa cut-up Vocals, Pianos and Organ chords. Real bangin' stuff! Loop-o remastered their 1994 tune “Don't wanna hurt you” at the famous Calyx Mastering / Berlin.

Karsten Weiss alias “DJ with Soul” is a Deep & Vocal House enthusiast living and DJing in Berlin for quite some time now. His soulful instrumental tune (nomen est omen) is an ode to classical House by the likes of Joey Negro, Kerri Chandler and others – an epic tune with a long build-up and two jazzy Piano solos by his buddy MickyWin.

Jordan Fields must be one of the most underrated producers of 90s Chicago House. He's done dozens of EPs and LPs under various monikers on tier-1 labels like SSR, House Jam, Large, Daisy, Camouflage, Moody, etc. One of his first was “Underground Fundamentals Vol. 1” on Strictly Rhythm Sublabel “Red Cat” in 1994. “Everybody Swingin” was also carefully remastered in 2016.

The EP is closed by Italian House Music connoisseur Gioele Giacopelli a.k.a. JWL from Perugia. His tune's a reminiscence to all the Divas that have built the HOUSE.

back in January we were contacted by Glasgow Underground about reworking something from Romanthony’s back catalogue. Growing up in northern England in the 90s and immersed in dance music it wasn’t uncommon to hear Romanthony tracks such as Ministry of Love, Hold On or The Wanderer (Journey Man Thump) pumping from shops, passing cars or bars. Even our parents would have heard his vocal work with Daft Punk on ‘One More Time’ and knowing the labels previous Romanthony reworks from the likes of Dixon, Andres, Rob Mello, Gerd and Deetron we were interested to get involved.
 
We chose to rework Trust and got to work over the next few months. Then in May, shortly after submitting our version to the label we heard the news that Romanthony had tragically passed away at the age of just 46 from complications related to kidney disease.
 
Whilst we didn’t know Romanthony a.k.a Anthony Moor personally, losing someone - even a distant peer can really make you think, especially at such a young age. Of course the remix suddenly seemed pretty irrelevant, and we pondered with the label over what to do about it. Now over 6 months later the time feels more right and we’re happy to announce our rework will be released on 9th December alongside versions from Motor City Drum Ensemble, Freeform Five and label boss Kevin McKay. In memory of Anthony we will be donating half our royalties from this record to Kidney Research UK. Hope you enjoy...

After taking a short break ‘House of Disco Records’ are back with a purpose. Not content with the adding to the plethora of ‘Disco Edit’ labels representing the genre they have opted to walk a more distinct path, determined to lean on originals or clever sampling as opposed to outright re-rubs.  In this their twelfth release they recruit previous label-mate Harry Wolfman and compadre Skinny Love to provide three stunning dancefloor ready originals. The duo have certainly delivered on the brief and turned in three diverse and clever takes on what a modern Disco track with a House soul can represent. 

On remix duties they have recruited a promising young producer ‘Kickflip Mike’, who has released on Box Aus Holz as Joschka Seibt and paired him with experienced disco merchant ‘The Revenge’ who is responsible for some of the best remixes we know of, and he doesn’t disappoint here with either remix.

Also as a cheeky bonus our buddy from New York Jkriv has crafted a remix that wil only be available to download on digital from beatport.

Berlin based XXXY starts his latest label adventure with Sour Edits after a successful volume first release from himself a few months back, volume 2 is hot on its heels and will undoubtedly follow in the same direction, definitely a label to look out for this year. SOUR002 belongs to Marcin Krupa, the astronomical tapes label boss provides a perfect addition to the new sour edits line up with this smooth 3-track EP. Each track is uniquely impressive in its own way; the polish sample wizard perfectly creates three euphoric bangers, prepare to be taken on an emotional journey.

We have the pleasure of premiering the first track on the release, ‘Jazz with some house elements’. This Jazz-infused rhythmic weapon is everything we love here at bolting bits and is a stand out track in the EP. Marcin does wonders with the unique melody as it swirls around in a haze of house lushness, but another element I have to bring attention to is the brilliant percussive drums playing looping around tying the whole thing nicely together. I wrote this song with my friend DJ Whitney Fierce. She is a great dj, and very knowledgable about dance music from many cultures. She also rocks food coloring for hair dye, which makes her very tasty in my book because it makes me think of Mink Stole, a great actress from Baltimore in some of John Water's films. This song lies somewhere between Stock Aitken and Waterman and Manchester's Hacienda sound, while Whitney sounds very Bananarama on it. Mark Pistel busted out his E- Max on this recording with some original samples he compiled in 91, so that made us all dance in the studio. - Andy Butler
