Unsere neue Folge starten wir mit einem kleinen Gedankenexperiment: 
Gemeinsam mit euch und @djgigola tauchen wir in eine Welt ohne soziale Medien ein. 
Grund dafür ist der Konflikt zwischen Facebook und der Europäischen Union rund um das bislang geltende “Privacy Shield” Abkommen. Dieses Abkommen regelte und erlaubte bislang den Datentransfer personenbezogener Daten von EU Bürgern in das US-Ausland und wurde kürzlich vom Europäischen Gerichtshof für ungültig erklärt. Als Reaktion drohte das Unternehmen Facebook Inc damit, ihre Plattformen Instagram und Facebook innerhalb der EU vom Netz zu nehmen.
Auch in Australien sperrte Facebook erst kürzlich Inhalte von großen Medien- und Verlagshäusern, sowie private Nachrichten und Posts von Nutzer*innen. Auch hier sollte Druck gegenüber der Regierung aufgebaut werden, um sich einem neuen Mediengesetz entgegenzustellen, das die Geschäftsmodelle der Tech-Giganten einschränkt und gefährdet.
Trotz des ausgebliebenen Social Media Shutdowns lohnt sich eine nähere Betrachtung dieser Thematik: Eine Welt ohne Social Media – Utopie oder Dystopie?
Denn auch in der Kultur- und Musikindustrie bauen viele Existenzen und Geschäftsmodelle auf Reichweite und Follower*innen auf. Wir sind zum Produkt geworden, zu einer Marke, die wir online promoten. Welche Auswirkungen hätte ein solcher Social Media Shutdown auf unseren Alltag und die Musikindustrie? Wie wichtig sind Instagram & Co für Künstler*innen und wie hat sich unser Nutzer*innenverhalten während der Pandemie verändert?

"ah ohh, ah ohh, ah ohh": it's easy to describe Nils Hoffmann as the 16-yo producer of the famous "Balloons" track (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hb9-8X9dY_k), lately remixed by AKA AKA & Thalstroem and Martin Roth. However Nils has achieved more than that the past few years. He signed his first EP called "Verwunschen" one year later on Lochmann Records. Numerous remixes have followed on Poesie Musik, Playperview and recently "Animal Logic", his last production, on the young label Trndmusik.

His mixtape gives a further step to our Smile This Mixtape serie and we are very thankful for what he did with this #38.

The system fizzed and flashed, electrical currents buzzed and vibrated and his body was alive with a throbbing pulse which kept him awake and preoccupied. His heart was a microchip, a special type of man. He wondered what it was to be human and not machine, to be something more than a framework. His software told him what to feel and think but there were times in which even that short circuited and caused internal dispute. Perhaps it would be best if some great virus touched down upon his portals and plagued his very core. 

Agents Of Time are set to release a new EP on longstanding German label Kompakt, an imprint which requires little introduction. They deliver an eclectic mix of club ready tracks alongside one particularly interesting downtempo excursion which we bring you today.

PREMIERE: Agents Of Time - My Heart Is A Microchip [Kompakt]

Here comes Reznik's and his studio-buddy and friend Good Guy Mikesh's first full-fledged EP for the Keinemusik label. Them getting together can result in somewhat variable stylistic outcomes and so this batch of tunes certainly adds some exquisite nuances to the label's sound- portfolio.
"Human Factor" on A distinctively affirms that Reznik and Mikesh are kids of the 80ies. Effectively it is synth-heaven, layering riffs, melodies and chilly beat patterns on top of each other, building a foundation to be pinnacled by that hook you might not be able to get out of your head for quite a while. So, little trigger warning right there. A strongly crafted tune that balances Pop-sensibilities, educated references, club qualities and that name giving, at all hands needed human factor into a soon-to-be classic.
"It's Not You It's Me" on the flipside insinuates itself in a rather emotive manner, introducing a mantra-like organ motive, switches between stoic and dynamic drum patterns and an all-over organic feel, altogether adding up to what would be one of this season's most sensitive ways to get a floor going (if there was a season after all).
Closing things off is Adam Port's take on "It's Not You It's Me", a remix that breaks the original's dynamic down to a more loop-based club-approved modus operandi, re-shaping the beat with toms and shakers, implementing drones and variations of the organ-hook, upping the ante to meet the requirements of a rather post-peak application.

Exclusive: Das Komplex - Galaxy

He does it again. Music architect Das Komplex designed another funky and groovy weapon that combines both: the driving elements to make one float over the dance floor and the chords to make you enjoy the sweet sunrays at the beach. Both being so intense that the track swiftly beams you not exclusively into different settings on 'dance floor earth' but with its tonal chord sequences lets one experience zero gravity in a different galaxy. As part of RSS Disco run label Mireia Records and their We'll Sea-series, Galaxy is one out of four tracks the trio signed for their various artists series, each carefully chosen and thoughfully compiled to an EP, the listener is beautifully guided through the different musical takes and precisely to Das Komplex's nine and a half minutes of a Galaxy.
