Oxford based The Ideas comprises of Gary S Creigh on vocals and guitar, Steve Hare on bass and backing vocals and Nick Aspey on drums.
 The band wear their influences on their sleeves – especially those from the Oxford area – with the Ride and similar 'shoegaze' sounds featuring strongly, as well those other Oxford heroes, Radiohead.

The Ideas audio-landscape is rich, with tonal and vocal inspiration present from early 80s post punk artists, such as The Cure and Joy Division, brought up-to-date with pounding back-drops, akin to The National, Interpol and Arcade Fire.
 The band recently recorded with renowned UK indie producer George Shilling – Frank Turner, Blur, Teenage Fanclub – and have their debut album planned for the later-half of 2020.

Vincent became interested in mixing/DJing back in the 80s when he first heard a street sounds hip hop electro album and wondered how they managed to join the individual tracks up so seamlessly.

Having collected vinyl his whole life he bought a mixer in 1989 (no easy thing in Cornwall back then) and started trying to beat match on his father’s turntables.

Vincent got his own Technics 1210s mk2 in the early 90s and after some practice, he was soon playing house, hardcore and techno at parties across the Southwest under the name of DJ Cutting Edge.

Jungle and Drum and Bass seemed to be the next step. After listening to LTJ Bukem’s first essential mix in 1995 he really started to follow the Intelligent Drum and Bass sound.

Today, and now a DMC competitor and tutor, Vincent can be found playing Liquid and Liquid Funk tunes, delighting crowds across the Southwest with some nice a-men break business and sweet turntablism out of love for the old school. From time to time he can be found dropping a Jungle set somewhere in Cornwall as well performing at various House and Hip Hop events.
