This audio has been recorded from a live performance that we put on at dBs Music in Bristol, due to this the quality of the recording is less than perfect. It is compiled of a variety of track that we have created and produced together, and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much we enjoyed creating it. Smiley Pirate & Sanial Live Set 10 - 05 - 18

Here's a track that I recently created for a uni assignment. I created all of the sounds with either a white noise oscillator or through a process called "no input mixing". This process involves creating a feedback loop in a mixing desk, and results in some crazy sounds! Through careful sample selection and manipulation, I have managed to create a track out of what is essentially noise.

I hope you enjoy it, and if you have any ideas for what I should make my next track out of, feel free to drop me a message. Similarly, if you wish to collaborate and make a track together, hit me up. I have access to a great variety of professional standard studios and hardware at uni, and it would be a shame not to make the most of it and share the wealth.

No Input Mixing

Yarrr me hearties!!! Ahoy, and welcome aboard the wacky, watery world of Smiley Pirate Music! A smiley, psychedelic, ship on its musical maiden voyage, floating atop a sea of influences. At the helm is the Smiley Pirate himself, Hugh Walker, setting sail from the Norfolk Broads and currently docked in Bristol’s central harbour.



The sound of the ship is built from mighty oaks, with their roots deeply founded in Dub Reggae, their branches reaching towards the sonic geometries of Psychedelic Trance, and swirling, luscious, soundscapes and atmospheres blowing through their leaves. The boom of the nation’s sound systems fills its sails, as it journeys forth in the hope of bringing a sense of peace, love, and unity, to all in her wake.



Operating with Fractal Soundsystem throughout the Smiley Culture of the late '00s, Smiley Pirate felt a calling for music production as strong as the pull to the sea. Following a successful launch at Access to Music Norwich, he chartered a course for the craggy coves of the Westcountry and is now honing his skills further at dBs with a BA (Hons) in Electronic Music Production, while still taking the time to perform his creations live at various events, and professionally master other producers' music.



Smiley Pirate has also thrown his hook to sound engineering, working alongside Live Business with TUI Family Life and P&O Ferries in various wonderful countries; including Croatia, Cyprus, and Holland thus far. In the future, he hopes that the musical winds that blow will carry the ship to the far-flung corners of the globe, over each of the seven seas, to reach and build as big and beautiful a crew as ever there was.



So, with all that said and done, grab yer grog, and with a shanty or two in your hearts, weigh the anchor, hoist the colours, heave-ho, and all-hands-on-deck as we set sail on another Smiley adventure. Lest ye be a landlubber…
