The Courier Pigeons are a North Carolina based duo consisting of Jeremy Johnson and Bill Jarrett. Music crisp as the dewdrops coating a mountainside dogwood of a spring morning. This is a story of positivity in what was a difficult period of time for us all. Musical soulmates reunited from a distance under quarantine. What began as jamming to pass the time became something more structured as the songs emerged, the music a third among them introducing itself like a separate entity born of the reunion of that magical connection of friendship.

Recordings were swapped in files and FaceTime alike and a great excitement gripped the boys who by now had come to know themselves as the Courier Pigeons, passing messages back and forth like the pigeon posts of old. Time passed. Realizing the jam sessions could be whittled like a stick into a full album, an isolated cabin in Black Mountain NC was chosen as the place to finalize the grand adventure that would become the Black Mountain Sessions. 

We are the Courier Pigeons. These are our dispatches. Homing pigeons have been used for message sending among humans during times of peace and war and everything in between for thousands of years. The practice dates back to ancieint Persia. Pigeon posts as they were called were a vital form of communication on par with the modern-day telephone. We thought it a fitting name. Every story has an origin and this is ours.
