HOT JAZZ FUNK FROM NEWBOURG

Hannibal Smith and Gigolo Johnson are close team players, who walk the line between Jazz Rock and Club Music. The album features a wide range of different musical styles, including Funk and HipHop.

Smith & Johnson songs have a cineastic note and take you on an instrumental trip through the dark alleys of Newbourg, where the band was founded in 2009. Mellow chords and strong melodies meet the hard pulse of HipHop inspired grooves. "That Hot Cool" sounds like a soundtrack for a classic secret agent thriller; "Vertracktor" could characterize a weird crook, trying to rule the world.

On "Michigan Nights Remix" the band reinterpreted a track from the underground rap star Guilty Simpson, and proved that connecting Jazz and HipHop does not necessarily have to sound like the 90s...
