Listen to our selection of tracks taken from the new 2CD set, compiling the work of Can founder Irmin Schmidt’s solo and soundtrack work, including two unreleased Can remixes.

CD1 is a compilation of Irmin Schmidt’s extensive work as a solo artist over the past 30 years, whilst CD2 - compiled and presented by long-term collaborator Wim Wenders, is an insight into Schmidt's vast work as a composer for film and television for which Wenders has also written the sleeve notes.

The two CD compilation includes tracks such as Villa Wunderbar, Kick On The Floods and Bohemian Step, alongside unreleased remixes by Schmidt of two Can tracks, Alice and Last Night Sleep.

2 December 2013 will see the long-awaited release of the Can back catalogue, remastered on vinyl for the very first time. All 14 albums, including Out Of Reach and an exclusive live bonus album, will be released on 180g vinyl in a box set alongside original posters and artwork.

on this release the usage of beat-driven structures is present, but the clear emphasis of nebulo's new works lies in the addition of a new set of sound aesthetics developed during the last two years. 'castles' offers an intensified amount of repetitive patterns based on dark technoid textures, accumulated with polyrhythmic adjustments, unusual harmonic breaks and strengthened analog / digital synthesis. the atmospheres transferred by these sounds range from dreamy and mesmerizing to abruptly irritating and even menacingly forceful - as strong, solid and contorted as castles are intended to be. like a sonic architect, nebulo successfully explores new territories and strikes a new path, where 'basements' can be allegorized as the foundation of 'castles'. oftenly, ambitions and dreams about building something impossible result in illusive castles in the sky - with this release nebulo has certainly proven that the 'castles' you are about to listen to became reality. the 180g vinyl 12'' lp includes a download code for the album tracks and the 'basements' ep.

Dit is GERRIT. Een serie met verhalen over het leven van Rietveld. Nederland is een openluchtmuseum voor zijn werk. Van bushokje tot zomerhuis. En van villa tot muziekschool. Het Rietveld-Schröderhuis in Utrecht staat net als de Big Ben en de Eiffeltoren op de UNESCO Werelderfgoedlijst en zijn bekende stoel is te zien in musea over heel de wereld.  
In deze driedelige-serie onderzoek ik wie hij was, wat hem tot een geweldig architect maakt en wat hij heeft achtergelaten. Aflevering 1: Het Rietveld Schröderhuis.

‘Dia Ti Maria’ is an 8 min choral piece; a song of loss, fortitude and self-realization
Inspired by the Greek Orthodox liturgy, the 1st and last sections are written in Koine (Biblical) Greek. The English lyrics are quotes from Milton’s Paradise lost.

This mix features The Kronos Quartet - the world's No.1 string ensemble.

Originally commissioned by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus the US debut grabbed the front page of the New York Times who announced Bishi as the ‘New British Diva’.
Bishi sings all 50 voices on the recording…

Rich harmonic writing develops from the clusters of Bulgarian throat singing to the more open, pastoral harmonies of English folk. The atmosphere moves from despair to realization and resolve.

Vocal techniques suggestive of Ligeti and Meredith Monk can be heard in the occasional slides and ‘asides’ to give a sense of melodic fluidity to the musical landscape.
