phuture: Looking back at 2016, how did you grow & what did you learn?

s e s h : I grew a lot in 2016 and I think it really showed through my production. I went through some interesting obstacles in 2016 and really learned a lot about myself. A lot of these things are things I’d rather keep to myself, but hopefully you can feel it and see it in my music.

phuture: Once again you’ve lured us in with a warming melodic flow and then dropped the floor from underneath us with bang and bass. What inspires this yin and yang type structure?
 
Untitld: I get a lot of inspiration from balance. Funny you should say Yin and Yang cause that's where I get most of it from. I try to keep both mellow and hype in my tracks. I want it to grab you from multiple emotions.

GETTER - INHALANT ABUSE

Avbvrn is a producer, composer and DJ born in California and based in Frankfurt. Combining a history of digital production with study of composition under Claus Kühnl at the Hoch Conservatory, Avbvrn’s music is situated at the intersection between experimental, club and contemporary classical music.
Avbvrn is a formidable reworker—his output thus far includes several uniquely twisted edits and remixes. On Self/Similarity he turns his editing tools on himself: five prototype tracks were written as source material and then sampled and processed into five new tracks. The EP’s compositional self-reflexivity exudes solipsistic sonics rich with oddly stretched textures and highly sculpted artefacts. As a fully formed second iteration of a previous body of original work, the EP implies infinite further iterations...
Monochromatic, otherwordly and at times claustrauphobic, Self/Similarity is a compelling insight into Avbvrn’s conceptually inquisitive and singularly dank music practice.

phuture: Writer’s block happens to nearly everyone that has ever created art, what are your methods to overcome it?

chldrns🍼:  everyone needs breaks when working on anything. i always try to take breaks from producing, that way my ideas keep flowing and i don’t get stuck trying to force myself into the process. When necessary i even take a about a week without listening to any music at all, and then try and come back to my project to see what i can do.
