I first wrote the main electric piano hook for this song several years ago and discovered it again not too long ago.  I liked the 5/4 time signature and floaty feel of it so thought I'd see what I could do with it.  Like a few of my tunes of late, I suppose it could be classed as a 'remix' given the source of the vocal lines, but I don't think my version here sounds much (at all!) like the original...

Continental’s own A&R and multi-tasking, all around vibe meister DJ drops his debut solo single ‘Yeah!’, the send off to his no-nonsense DJ Tools series on the label.

Pioneer of the Parisian electronic scene, long relocated to London, Jerry Bouthier joins passionately the dots between music and fashion. The resident dj of east London’s infamous and now defunct BoomBox night knows a good tune when he hears one as his Continental label’s output testifies. His celebrated dj mixes for Kitsuné, Emerald & Doreen and his own Heart & Soul series are captivating labours of love that have attracted followers the world over. His stylish upbeat dj sets, blending genres and everything else fancied by this iconoclast Frenchman, never fail to rock the party from one continent to another. 

Also a sound-designer for fashion, his post-modern soundtracks for Vivienne Westwood – seamlessly merging classical into world music, punk into cosmic disco and more - have become the stuff of legends. In the studio, he produces as JBAG - his baleariscopop project with Andrea Gorgerino - together they’ve released 4 singles (inc. tropical anthem ‘Mogadisco’) and remixed Two Door Cinema Club, RÜFÜS, Ladyhawke… however it’s now time for a new recording chapter.

Jerry explains why he’s never released a record under his own name before:
“I come from a band/group background and as long as I wasn’t producing tunes strictly on my own, it didn’t seem fair to the other musicians involved in the creative process with me. That’s why we started JBAG for instance, the contribution of my musical sidekick Andrea Gorgerino is huge, it wouldn’t have made sense to release our stuff as Jerry Bouthier…
With time I’ve acquired confidence and felt I could produce some decent DJ tunes on my own, the kind of funky, housey stuff I play in my sets, nothing as musical or song-led as JBAG – it wouldn’t be fun to do the same thing. The idea of delivering a series of DJ Tools soon came to me, you know simple yet effective tracks that work the dancefloor well without fuss…
So I locked myself in the studio with a pile of old vinyl and came up with ‘Yeah!’, my first attempt at going back to house basics, fusing the soulful vocals of yesterday’s NYC dancefloors to the more underground, bassline vibe of London.”

On the remix front Barcelona duo Mordisco, takes the deep house route with a sensual chugger that’ll work its wonders in the early hours. Next another duo, Tel Aviv’s B1ZB1Z, turns out a dreamy disco reinterpretation spiced-up by a zest of indie.

We’ve had our eyes on Artenvielfalt for a while now since their Christmas 2012 release on the label Acker Records. Beyond we found a concern of originality due to restriction, an original apprehension of beat house and techno. But today it’s with our upmost pleasure to be welcoming the boys to Délicieuse Records, and release their pure deep-house style, new and improved.

Not amateurs to music, the duo had already made a name for themselves in the 90’s hip-hop scene. Holding a clear mastery of the sample technique as well as properly executing rhythmic sections, their past experiences and talent certainly made for a natural transition to deep-house.

So we kick things off with the duo’s hit shaped for Funktion One.

Thinkin’ About You EP, constructed around the title track, is surely a release cut out for the dance floor. Devilishly compelling and designed with a heavy beat, the original title is bound to accompany you for some summer nights of debauchery. The deep vocals are complimented by a beautiful well-rounded bass that we find "straight to the point". Following comes a succession of synths which play upon different contrast levels, successfully creating an element of surprise.

Tuning in on the remix, we meet the German duo Mat.Joe whose releases (Off Records, Jack-Mode, etc) have placed high amongst the deep-house charts for months now on Beatport. Supported by prestigious names such as Adana Twins as well as the entourage at Exploited Records, our friends Matze & Hannes, as well, come from a hip-hop background. They conserve the "club" atmosphere of the original title while taking on their own spin as they rebuild the rhythmic section of the piece.
