Smokescreen Sound System is a collective of musicians, artists and DJ's who play and promote deep underground house. Smokies started back in the earl 90s in Sheffield, UK and over the years have put on hundreds of club nights and free parties up and down the country making a name for themselves for their bassy rig and chunky tunes. Artists such as Inland Knights, The Littlemen, Special Interest, Kinky Movement and Brown all cut their teeth at Smokescreen parties and can still be found Dj'ing at Smokescreen nights at The Maze in Nottingham and various parties around the UK. Dale James is a London-based DJ whose sound channels the groove and soul of 90s house, deep house, and garage house. He began in the city’s underground minimal scene, playing at intimate after-hours and warehouse parties, but over time his sound has evolved- still rhythm-driven, but now rich with warmth, swing, and nostalgic energy.

A regular behind the decks at London’s most iconic members clubs, Dale has held residencies at Soho House, House of KOKO, The Ned, and Roof Gardens, where his curated sets have become synonymous with elevated, fashion-forward nightlife.

Dale’s ability to create atmosphere has made him a go-to for fashion and lifestyle brands, playing events for Nike, Space NK, Martine Rose, and Acne Studios, blending underground sensibility with high-end cool.

With a distinct ear and instinctive feel for the floor, Dale continues to shape his place in the scene - bridging underground culture and refined taste with every set.
