Captivate is a Canadian producer and DJ pushing deeply rooted yet forward thinking bass music. The emerging artist’s productions vary from dark, weighty and dubbed out halftime to frenetic footwork jungle hybrids, to lush ambient-infused bass music. His tracks always pay homage to 90's rave music but with a focus on fusing classic elements with lesser used rhythms. Now a familiar name across Canada, he has had the honour of playing shows and festivals across the country and has provided support for the likes of Fixate, Skeptical, AMIT and many more. His productions frequently appear in DJ sets from the likes of Om Unit, J:Kenzo, Doctor Jeep, Mat the Alien and other hard hitters, and have been released on respected labels such as Mystic State's The Chikara Project and longtime mentor Stranjah's Deviant Audio imprint. You can also find him live on The Beaumont Studios' bside.radio platform on the second Monday of every month 7-9 PM PST.

About the guests

@djnoyl - Active since 2003 in the hiphop and turntablism scene where he was able to practise his cuts with the greatest DMC champions, DJ Noyl continues to work in the hiphop realm and still collaborates in projects in Europe and North America, recording scratches on various albums . His deep connection to the music world, led him to join the collective Unlog and co-found the eponym label in 2014 with Famelik and BSLC, an eclectic label of a new genre focused both on the hip-hop heritage of sampled music as well as sound design and experimental music. Accustomed to live performance, his growing passion for future beats, glitch and electronic music later pushed Noyl to turn to production and live PA, using his scratcher background and set-builder skills to create a hybrid music, matching breakbeat rhythms and cinematic influences.

DJ Suncat (@taiyononeko )- Steeped in the deep, Tom Suncat cut his teeth in the warehouses of Montreal before moving on to travel the cosmic dancefloors of the world. He has now settled in BC to refine his craft both in front of and behind the decks, eschewing genre conventions to bring deep, intense, soulful vibrations to the dance, drawing from all corners to construct moments of love and beauty within our mortal coil.

Krucial has always believed music to have no borders, but being a kid from Southern Alberta there certainly wasn’t much Dubstep or underground bass music presence in his life. Creating a community is something he cherishes deeply and is something he has always strived for. Having created connections with artists from all over the world, he has always had a deep love for the UK sounds and always will. This mix however has a splash of North American bass music that he believes stands up to the legendary sounds of the UK underground.
