Mad Liberation is a collection of songs that I have been working on for the past year that ranged from mostly original compositions to varied sample work (retro vinyl recordings and new all original recordings); digital synthesis that took me weeks to master; to live instrumentation tediously and soulfully recorded by myself and some of my very good friends. 

This collection of noise - to me - became an album, a sound in a whole, an idea free from limits of thought and more an idea of the heart and soul. Mad Liberation is a piece of me that is representative of my past, breathes life into my present, and is a taste of the future. 

I don't have fancy recording equipment, amazing speakers, crazy keyboards, complicated sample packs, proper studio time, cutting edge midi controllers, or outboard mixing gear. 

What I do have is an endless imagination of the future/now, unrelenting will, constant fascination, and a heart that has no capacity to stop loving and trying. 

This business - when you boil it down - is not about the machine, but about the man. Even electronic music is humanistic. We breath life into these dead things to make them whisper and ROAR!! I am inspired by that fact, and this is what sets me free.

Flumo Recordings owner and one half of ace production team T.W.I.C.E., Vincente Rodriguez is presenting his new alias Nicson on Galaktika Records. Olivia starts with a bluesy feel and very modern production,giving space to melancholic melodies and a deep bassfor a perfect 5AM dancefloor feel to it. Violeta is a more chugging affair, taking vocal snippets, a funky guitar lick and sleazy bassline building tension before a big breakdown. Our old friend and one of Galaktika main artists, Pablo Bolivar creates a perfect blend of dance floor compatibility and deepness on his remix, taking the horn sounds from the original as the main hook and adding a modulated bassline for a sureshot floor bomb.

Nicson - Violeta (Pablo Bolivar Remix)

A debut release for both band and label, Parisian duo Paradis' bring two eloquently produced tracks to Beats In Space in the form of the Parfait Tirage b/w La Ballade de Jim 12" (BIS001). Admirers from afar of DJ Tim Sweeney's weekly on air institution of 12 years (from which the label takes its name), Paradis submitted demos hoping they might hack it for some play time. 

Reared on classical and jazz, turned young hip hop rebels, turned teen club crawlers, and then university machine tinkerers, Simon Mï¿½ny & Pierre Rousseau grew out of genre jumping while young enough to stay ahead and settle into music making centered around melody and emotion. 

This touchstone approach is perfectly apparent on "Parfait Tirage", a track built around sublime synth ambiance, a compelling sequence lead, and what will one day be unmistakably recognized as the Paradis vocal sound. The b-side, "La Ballade of Jim", is a deep techno take on beloved French artist Alain Souchon's track from the 80s, and already a staple in Sweeney's live set. 

Each 12" from Beats in Space features original artwork in considerate & serial form. The first 12" features artwork by Bjorn Copeland, a 21st century schizoid collagist and member of NYC experimental music legends Black Dice. The 12" packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a vinyl BIS logo cling. The 12" will be available on September 20th, 2011 from fine retailers worldwide. The digital version will be available October 4th, 2011 from the drab internet universe.

The last tune we posted Jimmy Burns was his bassy creation; 'Bad Tings'. He's back with 'Rock The Boat', a smooth trap rendition of Aaliyah's classic. As always, the standards are high and the production is finely tuned with melodies that melt into your ears. It's something different entirely but it's another helpful nudge pushing the trap genre in an interesting direction.
