Solitude

Myriam et Caroline ont quitté leurs pays respectifs pour des raisons politiques. Le Maroc en 1967 pour Myriam en tant que juive après la guerre des 6 jours, et la Chine pour Caroline au début des années 90 après le massacre de Tian’an men. L’une était encore adolescente, l’autre passionnée par la langue française. Tout aurait dû bien se passer pour elles en France, et pourtant, elles l’ont quittée en espérant des jours meilleurs au Canada.

The Roughhouse

Qui appelle t-on quand on a un souci dans une petite commune rurale de 200 habitants ? Le maire. Et quand le maire est occupé sur son tracteur, on lui laisse un message. Pour dire ses doutes, ses questions, ses angoisses et parfois ses joies. Le soir, Laurent et son épouse Laure, présidente du comité des fêtes, écoutent et commentent ces messages comme des archives vivantes de la vie du village. Un chien qui chasse le gibier, une panne de l'éclairage public, un nouvel arrivant qui demande à ce qu'on lui transporte ses tonnes de livres... Toutes ces petites choses qui font la vie, et qui rendent celles de Laure et Laurent fatigante, palpitante mais surtout essentielle. Vous vous posez des questions sur la vraie vie des maires d’une petite commune rurale ? La réponse après le bip.

De son enfance pauvre à la Belle de Mai jusqu'à ses années dans la French Connection, il raconte tout. 8 épisodes à suivre pour un récit puissant et addictif.

Une gouaille exceptionnelle, un carnet d'adresses aussi fourni que les fichiers du grand banditisme… Émile Diaz, dit « Milou », 78 ans, est une mémoire du Milieu marseillais : l’un des derniers survivants de la French Connection, du temps où la voyoucratie avait placé les Corses de Marseille au sommet du trafic de drogue mondial. Milou nous emmène sur les routes de la blanche, des souks d’Istanbul aux labos marseillais, et dresse son autoportrait sans complaisance. Dans sa voix, les charmes du Midi se mêlent à l’âpreté du Milieu, à sa violence et son amoralité. Retraité tranquille, rangé des voitures depuis une quinzaine d’années, il accepte de lever le voile sur les chapitres les plus sombres de sa vie. Milou a publié, avec Thierry Collombié, son autobiographie chez Robert Laffont "Truand" en 2015.

Épisode 6 :
À peine sorti de prison, Milou reprend les affaires. La French Connection est morte, mais pas lui. La Turquie et sa fameuse « base » lui tendent les bras mais, très vite, le revoilà dans le viseur des autorités.

As the world entered the Atomic Age, humankind faced a new fear that permeated just about every aspect of daily life: the threat of nuclear war. And while the violent applications of atomic research had already been proven, governments and scientists hoped this powerful technology held promise for peaceful applications as well. As part of the "Atoms For Peace" efforts, experts would be mobilized to apply atomic science to the fields of energy, medicine, and agriculture. One of the products of these initiatives were the atomic gardens of the 1950s and 60s—experiments that used radioactive material to genetically alter plants into what they hoped would be better, stronger breeds. And the legacies of these largely forgotten experiments are still around today in the form of fruits, vegetables, and grains that can be found in grocery stores and markets the world over.

Though its official name is JFK Plaza, the open space near Philadelphia’s City Hall is more commonly known as LOVE Park.  With its sleek granite benches, geometric raised planter beds, and long expanses of pavement, its success as a pedestrian plaza is debatable.  But it turned out to be perfect for skateboarding.  As skateboarding culture grew in the 1990s, LOVE Park became a Mecca of the skating world--even though skateboarding was officially banned there.
