Amsterdam’s Luuk Van Dijk lands on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax this July with ‘The First Time EP’.
Releasing on the likes of Hot Creations, Solid Grooves, and his own Dark Side Of The Sun label, DJ/producer Luuk Van Dijk arrives on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax imprint for the first time with the aptly titled ‘The First Time EP’.
‘The First Time’ leads the release with snaking acid lines and snappy drums featuring vocals from Newcastle singer/songwriter and Hot Creations affiliate Mizbee, whose previous collaborators include the likes of Jansons, Maxinne, Supernova, and more. ‘Jus’ Listen’ follows, opening with airy pads and choppy percussion, with piano chords and bouncing low-end keeping up momentum.
‘Up North’ sees an amalgamation of glitched-out FX and warbling bass meet delicate atmospherics for a trippy late-night house jam, before ‘Don’t Mess’ closes the EP with bubbling synth hits, rolling basslines, and vocal chops.

After a small break of releasing on Seven Dials Records, label owner Seb Zito returns to the imprint with a fire summer house anthem. 

Hot on the heels of his album ‘Truth in my Steps’ on Eats Everything’s Edible, a remix for Rich Nxt on Fuse and his chart topping release ‘You Got Me’ on Ibiza’s Do Not Sleep, Zito keeps the pressure on with a summer vocal anthem in the making titled ’Gimme That Summer Love’. 

‘Gimme That Summer Love’ is trademark Zito, with its 4 to the floor kick, and a skip to its step, working perfectly with a weighty bassline, and topped off with a classy old school flavoured vocal all combining to give this track an light summer feel.

TB Premiere: Will Taylor - Sacrifice [SOLA]

Cuttin' Headz continues to define the contemporary house landscape with another superb EP, this time from Toman. The Dutchman has been hugely prolific since breaking through and his unique take on house and techno has led him to much-renowned outlets like No Art, Moscow & Eastenderz.

This fresh new EP opens with Madrugada, a tightly coiled bit of tech funk. The kicking drums and razor sharp hi hats are detailed with cool female vocal stabs, whirring effects and dramatic fills that really make the track pop. Better Is Weather is a much deeper tune but one that still packs a punch. The super balmy pads bring a nice summery feel to the breezy late night grooves and hints of garage skip.

All in all, another incredible standout EP from all involved.

The world-renowned Crosstown Rebels add the third instalment to their annual Spirits compilation, an album which has become established for delivering some of the biggest hits that have been heard in Damian Lazarus’ sets over the past year, from some of the most esteemed artists in electronic music. The man himself Damian Lazarus opens the release, setting the tone with the haunting hypnosis of Ergot which contains snippets of an ancient Chilean revolution song, relevant to the current political climate. Next up Guti & Fosky collaborate once again in fine style to produce a smoky, late-night atmosphere, with the moody bassline and expertly crafted beat of Da Drumz. Side B and legendary producer Martin Buttrich combines driving tripped out rhythms with warm surging pads, creating a great musical tonic during Slow Down. Denney & James Dexter then deliver a peak time monster in the form of Transcend.

Next up Harry Romero adds a touch of romance on It’s You with an unravelling rhythm of heartfelt synth. Dennis Cruz’s Mother Earth follows up with striking vocals playing off one another with soaring brass and strings. More DJ ammunition is provided by Piem on Freak Out where a familiar looped sample is manipulated to ignite dance floor euphoria. Finally the bounce of Adonis Rivera’s XX Acid will have you hooked from the outset, as you would expect from the title, razor-sharp acid awakens every sense in this heady piece. Another great Spirits compilation to add to the esteemed series.
