A native of Livingston, Louisiana (pop. 2,000) Laine Hardy was six when he picked up his first guitar and later joined his brother playing in local clubs and bars for upwards of six hours a night, inspired by artists ranging from Morgan Wallen to Luke Combs and Elvis Presley to Mark Broussard. After winning American Idol in 2019, Laine focused on songwriting and touring, headlining shows in Denver, Indianapolis, Sacramento, Lexington, Minneapolis and more.  While Louisiana is home, Nashville is where he is destined to be. There he met producer Michael Knox (Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett, Eric Church) and the pair went to work on several new sides releasing in 2020.  “Ground I Grew Up On” (Brandon Kinney, Josh Thompson, Brett Beavers) and “Let There Be Country” (Jason Afable, Steve Mokler, Tim Nichols) — releasing April 10 on Hollywood Records/Industrial Media’s 19 Recordings — tell the stories of Laine’s childhood on the bayou where on an average day you’ll find him fishing, riding his four wheeler, spending time with his family, dogs, and feasting on jambalaya or his Korean grandmother’s homemade kimchi. A simple start in a small town, Dean was the youngest to be born into the working class family of four. Raised in the black soil and buffel grass of south-western Queensland, Australia. Always harbouring an inner rhythm that later grew into lyrics and melodies. Inspired from his parents vinyl and cassette collection. A level of isolation was present throughout Dean’s childhood living on cattle and sheep farms. “I spent a lot of time on my own as a kid, playing in the paddocks/fields”. “I believe that’s where my creative mind began to develop” Dean’s parents played instruments and were a big influence on his introduction to music.

Dean has worked hard at his craft, writing, touring and honing his talents. He has performed countless headline shows, touring both nationally and internationally since making waves in the public eye back in 2014.  His debut single “Coming Back” hit No. 1 on the iTunes Singles Chart with Platinum status, and his self titled album achieved Gold status.

Dean's latest project, 4TRAK Sessions commenced from 31 January 2020. This project is designed to capture the authenticity of an artist. Recording this way keeps one thinking CREATIVELY and gives an artist NOWHERE to hide. His earlier single “Simple Things”  was included as part of the soundtrack for a groundbreaking Australian film, “The Show Must Go On”, dedicated to raising awareness for the incredible struggles by Artists in the Australian Performing Arts communities. His previous singles (“Scars”, “Princess Annie” and “Mystery”) and second album, "The Messenger"  are OUT NOW. It includes "The Winnings" and "Call It A Day" along with a host of other great recordings.

Rolling Stone says of “The Messenger”: “Ray delivers a set that’s steeped in Australiana and affecting story-telling… The down-on-his-luck outlaw rocker motif isn’t new, but Ray’s talent turns it upside down with terrific verve.”
