The Getup are more than your average Hammond Funk outfit and this track proves it. A bubbling bass line kicks the track into a killer up tempo funk groove, having you reaching for the volume knob to crank it up as the first verse bursts out.  The track takes on a whole new dimension as the chorus reveals a four-on-the-floor solid dance groove, with Jamiroqui-esque tasty chord changes, and then the horns stab us back into the next verse.  A percussive, reverberant Hammond solo takes us into a drum break that is DJ and sampler's heaven, before the tunes rounds out with a double chorus and ends on more punchy stabs……. a midtempo vocal workout showcasing the sheer musicality of the band…….funk of the highest order!

‘It’s Time To Breakout‘ produced by Mr. Confuse, Info & Kova in 2005.

Since the first Battle Of The Year (BOTY) has taken place in 1990, the annual breathtaking competition of international dance formations has become THE world championship of breakdance. In 2005, more than 400 crews with more than 3.000 dancers took part in 26 official elimination contests worldwide to qualify for the final battle in Braunschweig, Germany.

To transport the diversity of the competition, the BOTY soundtrack includes various artists and styles: from classical Funk with live instruments to Oldschool Hip Hop with an electronic touch and modern House/Disco grooves.

Highlights on this album include Jay-Roc’s opener “One” (taken from his debute album release The B-Boy Hustle Album out now on Dominance as well), new songs by DJ Nas’D, Reeno, DJ Woodo, Hawkeye, Sureshot (aka DJ TEE – Japan), Brisk Fingaz (producer for german rappers such as Kool Savas, Azad), as well as the electrified contributions by the Dominance Records residents Dominance Crushing Crew and Dagobert.

Summer is over, the kids are back in school and we’re back on the grind...sorta ;-) This week we’ve combined Gang Starr’s classic, anthemic posse cut, “DWYCK” with “In the Bamboo Grove”, an epic instrumental jam by Australian funk outfit, The Bamboos. The grooves switch up quickly and furiously with this one; we think it’ll appeal to headphone rockers with short attention spans. Enjoy!
