In The Wild

After a  long  journey through a vast, ever changing terrain, I have navigated my self  to the sub-plate depths of our Earth.  It is a deep, dark corner that I have landed in, but I have set up a small encampment in a hazy patch of organic light given off by strange, over-looming  plants.  With my  lab set up, I started my experiments in earnest, taking   soil and plant samples,  but the depths  of the Earth has made itself isolatedly clear and started to take their toll.  Each  step,  each scoop of my trowel, each bead of sweat hitting the hard ground is echoed throughout the labyrinth in a ghostly reverb.  When I finally become still and silent enough to rest, I hear the drone.  The drone of the Earth working away at depths deeper then I. Moving.  Shifting. Evolving. Plotting.  Sometimes I think there are other things living in these catacombs, I hear faint whispers, calls,and even rhythms and melodies echoing through the earthy halls. I'm certain I'm going mad.  I have gathered up what little defense I could find, mainly sticks and stones I have acquired in my walks.  Tonight I will find the source of the echos,  the droning,  and the others....whatever they may be.
