Shining in the dark

After intense touring ‘Of Desire’ in Europe, Asia and beyond,  The KVB returned to their studio to further immerse themselves in sonic experimentation. The resulting ‘Above Us’ heralds the next chapter in the adopted-Berliners dark, electronic pop development. With waves of synthesisers, flourishes of surf guitar and sequences driving with nervous energy, the tension finally relieves with a surging, euphoric chorus. 

Brighter and more expansive than ever, the track demonstrates the bands growing ability to create sonic journeys, yet retains the atmosphere synonymous with The KVB.

‘Algorithm Love’ is the title track of the upcoming Phonettes EP.  This ballade on romantic love in the age of online dating, floats in an ambient modular choir towards the edges of the dancefloor.

Phonettes is the project around the songs of Amsterdam based singer-songwriter and filmcomposer Daan Hofman. He is known for his lyrical Dutch theatre songs and music for the stage. About two years ago, with only an analog synthesizer, two guitars and a computer, he started writing material from scratch. He wrote, produced and played all the tracks on the coming EP ‘Algorithm Love’.

The songs of Phonettes are shaped by Minimalistic beats with dreamy vocal choirs, pickin’ guitars and warm analog synthsounds, even flirting with lay back techno, but preserving the song as its beating heart.
