Some of these were hard to find and span the best of the lesser-known Afro-House and Melodic throwback edits I’ve uncovered over the last month.

Every year in late July, 200+ friends from around the world converge in a Valley in Vermont for PYNK.

There are two primary venues for music across the four-day weekend: The Creek and the Cabin. 

The Creek is a grassy venue that sits just atop a beautifully shady, rock-strewn brook.  

It's not every day you can play an amazingly well-tuned d&b sound system to dancers frolicking in and out of the water as sunbeams shine through the trees.

I hope you enjoy this set, which was one of my highlights of Summer 2024 so far!

Biography:
After 30 years in the industry, Fractal Architect’s career continues to grow. Driven by a passion for music with depth and feeling, and underpinned by an unswerving attention to detail, this UK based artist is still performing at the top of his game.
Growing up in the musical melting pot of the 80’s and 90’s, where technological advances in sound generation created a new sonic canvas, the desire to innovate has always been strong. Influences ranging from Kraftwerk to Zappa, from Bach to Beck contribute to a unique sound that frequently defies genres.
With signings to some of the biggest hitters in the business, including Steyoyoke, Inner Symphony, Cinematique and Movement Recordings; Fractal Architect continues to demonstrate that good music will always find a way to be heard.

I’ve selected what I think is the best set from last month, which I was able to record. This set captures how I believe a smooth and well-built dancefloor should sound—nothing too pushy, nothing too crazy, just great vibes and energy.

It’s not the time to lay all your cards on the table, but you’ve got to do it right. It’s a tough job for dancefloor killers, but to me, this is the most important thing.

Biography:
Sounds that flow from the center of power melt in time and disperse in space. This is how Josep Herrera defines AkA Kmplxx (Complex for its Complexity)
A pioneer in the Mexa electronic scene, he began DJing in the mid-90s at the young age of 15 with the professional sound equipment that close relatives operated at parties and social and private events. "I still remember that I started carrying boxes of Acetates that weighed a lot and there were several of them, I estimate about 800 vinyls of all the genres that you could imagine at that time; my first mix would be with the pair of Technics MK1 turntables and the 4-channel analog Gemini Mixer, and it was with the Tecnotronik Records and one by Fran López [La Kabra] when I tied them I also tied my life" (1995).
In 1998 he began to experiment with new genres within the underground.
