Today Maribou State announce 'Nervous Tics (DJ Tennis Remix)’ - the latest in a series of remixes to come from their new album “Kingdoms In Colour”, released on 7th September on Counter Records. Following a recent remix from Maceo Plex, and ahead of a forthcoming remix from Adesse Versions, DJ Tennis (founder of the Life and Death record label) takes on album highlight ‘Nervous Tics’ featuring Holly Walker on vocals with his classic touch, preserving the warmth and fragility of the original but rebuilds the track on a sleek, muscular 4/4 foundation.

As well as their upcoming Roundhouse live-show the newly formed five piece have now sold out all of their upcoming dates in 2018, and recently announced a headline show at London’s Brixton Academy on 7th March 2019 which sold over 60% of tickets in one week, as well as their first live tour of the US and further EU tour dates in 2019.

"Kingdoms In Colour” is Maribou State’s first full-length since 2015’s breakthrough debut album “Portraits”. The record entered the UK album charts at #25 and features singles ‘Feel Good’ - a collaboration born of their friendship with Houston-based trio Khruangbin; ‘Turnmills’ - aimed at raising awareness for the The Night Time Industries Association's #SaveNightlife campaign to protect the UK’s most vulnerable music venues from closure; and continues their long standing relationship with Holly Walker (vocalist on fan favourites ‘Steal’ and ‘Midas’) on ’Nervous Tics’ which is currently on the 6 Music A list.

Beginning life in 2011 as a project between Chris Davids and Liam Ivory, Maribou State had released a string of EP’s and singles before the arrival of debut album “Portraits” propelled them to the world stage. Spawning a live show that took them around the globe and included standout festival performances at Glastonbury, Bestival, a headline slot at Sonar by Day and Secret Garden Party; a 32-date European tour plus dates throughout Asia, Australia and America. They received radio support from the likes of Annie Mac, Zane Lowe and Gilles Peterson, multiple additions to the BBC 6 Music A-list, a 5-show BBC Radio 1 Residency, a slot on the legendary BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and performed a session Live from Maida Vale. Critical support came from the likes of The Guardian, i-D magazine and Vogue, with the album amassing over 80 million streams to date and drawing comparisons to acts such as The xx, James Blake & Mount Kimbie, as well earning them plaudits from the likes of DJ Koze and Bonobo.

With international momentum, Tale and Tone continues the charge of releases featuring unique genre-benders with story and groove. With two collaborations, the Synergy EP is the result of great minds and hearts coming together in the studio.
The first track needs little introduction. Formentera has been a staple tune Lee Burridge’s sets - and has become the most train-spotted tune in Tale and Tone’s history. Not surprising, as this one is truly unlike anything else - a true original born from a collaboration between established artists Edu Imbernon and Los Suruba. 
The percussive groove is joined by sweeping arps and melodies that can touch the soul. Formentera is a pinnacle of production that shifts and elevates dance music, giving us a glimpse of what music can be.

Drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Stockhausen, LFO, Carl Craig, Eric Satie, and Kraftwerk, Mateu’s unique style has prompted releases on Mobilee, Systematic, and Watergate Records, and over 130 releases in the Beatport Top 100. His remix of Eli & Fur’s ‘Night Blooming Jasmine’ saw huge industry support from the likes of Tiesto, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, and Jason Bentley. 

‘Phoenix / Amergosa’ sees Rodriguez Jr.’s characteristic swirling analogue synths thread through dark arrangements of groove-heavy basslines and thumping drums.

Damian Lazarus will celebrate the tenth anniversary of his acclaimed 2009 debut album ‘Smoke The Monster Out’ with the release of a re-mastered and expanded edition on his label Crosstown Rebels on the 27th September. In celebration of such a milestone, Moment In The Dark EP acts as a precursor, featuring two of the album’s original tracks, Moment and Diamond In The Dark reworked and remixed by Keinemusik resident Adam Port, rising newcomer Tibi Dabo and Dutch talent Satori.

Released in 2009, Smoke The Monster Out album was a milestone in Damian’s career. The first time he had written and produced his own music. Drawing on the inspirations that informed his Lazpod series, Damian emerged from studio sessions with Arthur Jeffes (Penguin Cafe Orchestra), Luke Solomon and Mark Ralph with an album. It was a brave album from a DJ not afraid to experiment, wear his heart on his sleeve or risk his successful DJing career by singing on his own music. Even today, it’s a fantastically unique album that refuses easy categorisation. It received critical acclaim from some of the scene’s most respected publications at the time - and also some degree of confusion. Indeed, The Guardian went as far as describing the album: “Less troubled and deep than Björk's Debut, it still captures the atmosphere of late-night clubland – the transcendent freedom, the fuzzy unreality, the implicit emptiness, the dysfunction – with a similar potent accuracy. That it does so by fusing Ricardo Villalobos and Robert Wyatt, and slipping in a Scott Walker cover, might explain why it is not being hailed as one of the crossover albums of the year. But it is."

Damian described how the inspiration for the album came from “what I know best, about what goes on in the darkness of dancefloors”. This innate connection between Damian and his audience created an album that struck a poignantly emotional chord with its listeners. The release of Moment In The Dark is no different, providing the perfect taste as to what can be expected from the upcoming album re-release.

The EP begins with the original tracks. Two equally slow-burning, emotion-filled cuts. Moment is an epic, gently unfolding piece, whilst Diamond In The Dark showcases a soul-infused, folk-rock sensibility. Keinemusik stalwart Adam Port provides a winding journey in his remix of Moment, that drifts between safari-like melodies and touching beautiful vocals. Rising newcomer Tibi Dabo offers an ethereal re-work of Diamond In The Dark, one that features a slick, minimal bassline coupled alongside pulses of fantasy-like vocals, before Dutch talent Satori rounds off the release with a moving cut that features soft keys and wholesome, warming pads.
