After a short hiatus, Ownlife's tenth release has been revealed. Presented as crossover, this project merges the ideas of the artist behind it. Well known producers in the scene due to make their appearances in other renowned imprints.
Hardware jams, sharp arrangements and out of the four-to-the-floor land excursions, are some of the characteristics of this episode, where the combination of preterite reminiscences with the actual formulas, achieves an interesting balance in both sides of this new maxi-single.

Hd Substance returns to our label with this three tracker plus a stomping Joton Remix. Release starts with Clock, an old school exercise made with old Roland machines and recorded live in one take, 808 on the drums, Juno 6 on the chords, Sh 101 on the synth lines. 
Old Europe follows, funked up chord progressions, shuffled sub bass and stacatto sequences floating randomly over the groove. 
Joton rebuilds Old Europe on the third track, beefing the kick, distorting the feel and looping the arrangement in a proper tooly exercise. 
Closing the release The Box is a nineties infused track, with a 303 flying over a constantly moving arrangement, spiced with classic Roland drums and analogue synth lines.

While we watched the current events unfold in the USA, we have been feeling pretty helpless, we wanted to speak sooner but we felt we wanted to take action rather than adding more words. We are sickened by the way individuals have lost their lives over the years at the hand of disgusting police brutality, most recently with George Floyd. But this all stems from systematic racism that generations have suffered. Some of us can’t really begin to know the true extent of how this has impacted millions of human beings over hundreds of years and while we know this may not amount to a huge donation... We believe that now is the time for change, we want to make a move towards this, even if it simply helps raise more awareness amongst our own circles.

Prodigal Son artists & friends have worked together over the past few days to make a compilation of which all proceeds will be donated to NAACP.org who are leading the fight for change in the United States, we know this is a global issue and will like to support everywhere but we have to focus on one movement at a time. We would like to thank Bandcamp for highlighting this as an important organisation to direct the funding to, as they recently announced plans to make considerable donations.

New short and intense trip by Kastil for his own label Stale, showcasing his actual vision of dance music, evolving from previous patterns towards more futuristic shapes of frequencies, keeping the impact and body effectiveness.

We are living a small book that always repeats in time, a problem that feeds back, reflected in a lack of inward-looking and local order, which is repeated in so many scenes constantly, the failure and the fall of powers, destroyed in itself by mismanagement and the excesses, after a period of massive mediocrity populating everywhere. In a weakness society, thought loses effectiveness, turning the masses into shadows without thinking or self-judgment, luckily changes always aligns thinking with smart rising acts in short time again, from individuals to entire populations.

“Distant” opens the release with a dystopian passage, worthy of a not too distant future, giving a way to “The Falling Acts”, with an exercise in tension and industrial mechanisms, encompassing a set of emotions ready for that new era. 

“Infrared Band” does not escape the muscular territories, accompanied by modular resonances and a synth that unwinds on its own, creating a piece that mutates and evolve over the time frame. As a closing piece "Entering (Live Version)" is responsible for putting the magnetic force on the dance floor, with a repetitive hook from an excerpt of his last modular live performance, adapted in studio to the DJ format at its best.

Virtual Underground : How has this RAMKKA story started ?
RAMKKA : I have been djing now for about 15 years but when I started producing at the beginning of this year I decided I finally needed to create an alias for myself
as my own name isn't one that is going to stick out or be memorable. I chose a few different names and I kept coming back to RAMKKA so I ended up sticking with that one.

VU : Where do you generally draw your inspiration from ?
RAMKKA : From listening to some of my favourites DJs live sets, podcasts and their new releases. I find DJs that play the same brand of techno as myself and I work my way through their
mixes to find new tracks and to find new ways of making my sets more unique each time I turn on the decks. I find watching Oscar Mulero play to be my biggest inspiration at the minute.

VU : Could you describe your music selection and mixing process?
RAMKKA : When recording a mix I generally create a set of around 20 - 25 tracks, choose a track I want to start the set with and then start recording. After that I just decide while playing
which track I feel is going to fit the mix best next.

VU : Which software/hardware did you use for this set ?
RAMKKA : For this mix I used a Pioneer DDJ-400 and Rekordbox. I am uprgading my controller soon but I will be sticking with Rekordbox as I find it the most intuitive software for djing.

VU : What are you working on right now ?
RAMKKA : I'm currently working on my third EP with my first already out on Truc Records and my second to release on Nomad Species in October. I also have a number of podcasts lined up
for the coming months so I'm keeping myself busy but I'm always looking for new and interesting projects.
