Final Fantasy XIV Covers

Original track by Keiichi Okabe, from Final Fantasy XIV

Fully made from scratch with Cubase, Virtual Instruments (hey strings), and my clumsy voice.

Wanted to do a cover of this Kainé theme from NieR since a long while. But to change a bit from other covers I used the FFXIV version as reference.

Quite a louder / lower version for sure, I died two times trying to mix those strings and to fix my clumsy voice.

All is made by scratch using Cubase and Virtual instruments, except my voice and the otomatone which are recorded (and heavily processed).

Started this otomatone cover last year, then dropped it. But the awesome performance of Masayoshi Soken at the FFXIV fanfest fired me up to finish it. So here it is.

First French cover of 2022, I plan to make at least one a month, let's see if I stick to it.

Mixed it myself, I'm pretty happy with it even though it's nothing phenomenal. Also tried OpenUtau for French, it's pretty nice! This was not made with any phonemizer but a French phonemizer is in the plans for 2022, fret not.

I've been working on a CVVC phonemizer for OpenUtau for the past couple weeks. If you don't know what a phonemizer does, it's a script that allows you to input lyrics instead of having to type in phonemes! It's still a work in progress. Right now it uses Mot aliasing by Melomad but I might switch it to x-sampa or arpabet (I'm making a script on the side that converts oto aliasing methods to be able to use any voicebank).
