Inspired by the likes of Magda, Victor Calderone, DJ Vibe, Richie Hawtin, Merrit, Junior Vazquez, Radioslave, and Steve Lawler, Smitty's passion for rhythm is matched only by his desire to master the art of production and DJing. To the amazement of his Elementary school music teachers, Smitty's ability to play the trumpet seemed to come naturally, leading to a life long obsession with music. Growing up in New Jersey's thick house scene just a stones throw from New York City, Smitty took full advantage of the opportunities the rich nightlife NYC and Jersey clubs had to offer. With mega clubs like Exit and Sound Factory operating in their prime, Smitty had a front row seat to witness the biggest and best DJ / Production talent in the world. That was all the motivation he needed to take his love for electronic music from theory to actuality, purchasing his first set of turntables at 16 year of age, practicing day and night. 

After what felt like a lifetime of studying the art and technique of mixing house music, Smitty's confidence in himself and his ever evolving abilities continued to grow. His first gig at the Crossroads in Garwood, New Jersey gave Smitty a long awaited feeling of self assurance... "this is what I was meant to do! This is what I want to do with my life." He immediatedly started networking and promoting himself, landing bookings at clubs throughout New Jersey; Deko, Abyss, Guitar Bar, Amicis, Central Lounge, Luna Lounge. Bookings at New York City venues quickly followed; Rebel (where he made is NYC premier), Webster Hall, Guest House, Love, Bogarts, Moomia, Plumm, 40c...

Most recently, Smitty has expanded his musical talents to production, utilizing Fruity Loops, Ableton and Wavelab to help bring the unlimited ideas trapped in his head for so long to fruition. A commitment to keeping the dancefloor steady rockin' and a unique taste in electronic music has enabled Smitty to spin across the board to fans of house, techno, progressive and all the subtle sub genres that constantly pop up the scene.
