During the twelfth and thirteenth dynasties, the cult of Sobek was given particular prominence and a number of rulers incorporated him in their coronation names. Most of Sobek's temples were located "in parts of Egypt where crocodiles were common". Sobek's cult originally flourished around Al Fayyum where some temples still remain.
The god Sobek, which was depicted as a crocodile or a man with the head of a crocodile was a powerful and frightening deity; in some Egyptian creation myths, it was Sobek who first came out of the waters of chaos to create the world.

Sobek [Sam Knights, Jack Young] is a 2-piece DJ/Producer duo from Brisbane that brings a combination of deep bass music and downtempo beats that are versatile throughout the genres of dub, dnb and an array of deep/ethnic influenced music. 

Since beginning off in early 2012 in venues such as Wasteland and Coniston Lane playing local bass music nights, Sobek over the past few years have expanded into the festival scene, between them playing a range of club shows and big festivals in Aus, Nz and the UK and having since supported artists such as Ollie Bassweight, Grouch (in NZ), Freq Nasty, Eurythmy (in VIC), Xenoscapes and Opiuo (in FNQ), bringing audiences sets composed of an array of hand picked and original tunes.

Live performer. Vox, percussions, noises, guitars and keyboards.
After having lived 4 years in Africa where i was initiated to percussions and consequently been deeply involved in World Music, exploring Middle Eastern chants as well as various aboriginal rhythms, i then felt the urge to create an original music which would convey primitive and instinctive pulsations while at the same time appealing to one’s emotions.   
 

Oh I’m just a big fan of the music really….
