It’s about time the Grammy nominated artist returns to the dance floor with Self Service. Opening with a robust tear jerker, “Cell Site in Somerset” takes up a whole side winding through trance motifs, choral harmonies and slamming percussion. On the flip the energy settles, and slide guitar moves into the spot light. “Marigold Mix” ebbs and flows in density and momentum, chalked full of understated builds and breakdowns. Rounding the 12 out “Self Service” starts with no intention of ending. Dance Music at its most blissful.

Everybody's favourite vibrant and electric, cassette distributing label from the West Coast, 100% SILK, is back with a couple of releases. SILK 104 is coming from Pleasure Model and SILK 105 sees The Cyclist make a full length return after his appearance on their Ghost Ship tribute compilation, "Silk to Dry the Tears". Entitled "Alabaster Thrones", the Birmingham-based producer delivers "tape throb", a sound that he himself has coined and developed over the years. There's a bit of a bonus to this release though as the initial four track offering is being sold either with or without an additional 6 track cassette featuring additional material.

The unexpected extra cassette, "Beat at the Heart of the City", dials down the hardware crunch and delivers six compositions from The Cyclist's analog vault, composed over a period of 9 years. From dancefloor ready grooves to shimmering beat-less melodies, there is something to catch the ear of even the pickiest listeners. Our premiere today comes courtesy of the first track and is entitled Lucille. Hazy chord stabs and crisp drums set this number up for some prime time footwork. Blending uplifting, emotional pads and haunting vocals with a contagious groove and a rising, arpeggiated acid melody, it's got all of the elements to be both a club or home use favourite.

Set for release on April 6th, the 12" vinyl and cassette package is really like a full length album and we highly recommend grabbing the two together from 100% SILK's Bandcamp.

Haŵs Party Vol. 2 is a record of soulful, introspective tracks, as though you’ve suddenly become alone on the dance-floor and you turn inwards to explore. Whilst Haŵs Party Vol. 1 took an interstellar road-trip into space, the sophomore release takes a more drawn-out, lengthy cruise into the internalised, cerebral soundscapes of dance music. Wading through the borders between electro, breaks, acid and house, the second instalment from the Cardiff-based label and event promoters travels through uncharted regions of the sprawling atlas of music via another catalogue of exceptional names.
Jad & The’s honey-eyed electro opener ‘Digital Daintree’ is as groove-inducing as it is impassioned – a compact knit of synths, pads and rainforest samples that has no problem in stirring the creative hemisphere of the mind. The glossy interweave is torn apart swiftly, however, by the subsequent track; Dan Only’s ‘Pointless Melody’ is far from purposeless, but impishly bolts between weighty breaks and a greedy acidity that is tempered down by the dainty melody peering through the crevices. The final track on the A-side, ‘Hometurf’, comes from Aleksandir, who projects his lightheaded, wistful sound into warm breakbeats and a soaring repository of arpeggios that’ll have you ceaselessly yearning for some forgotten memory that you assumed had been lost forever.
Harry Griffiths’ ‘Llyn’ ushers away the breaks and replaces them with sun-dappled arrangements of chords and incandescent melodies that flutter like the hypnagogic visions that occur just before you dream. Carlo’s ‘White Lies’ takes the groove deeper than the fissures of the brain. Deliciously raw, balmy and with a frisky bassline, it’s a deep house track that gets back to the pure state of jamming through a wash of live samples from his collaborator, Nikoss. Does the past or future exist, or are we in the perpetual now? The existential rumination is carried gently back to reality with Sandboards rounding up proceedings. A placid coaxing out of the six-track reverie, ‘Japan Pt. 2’ scoops you up in nostalgic bells, pacifying drums and purring basslines until you’re ready to wake up.
It’s an internal excursion for all. Close your eyes, let the motions of your mind plunge deep into your soul, and have your body do the talking.

‘Jink’s Phono’ is the latest release from UK based electronic duo REIN. The pair have gained support from the likes of DJ Seinfeld, Hammer and Haai as the duo seek to stamp their own sound onto the dance scene. This track is one for peak time and late-night sets, with energetic drums countered by euphoric synths that float effortlessly across the dancefloor. REIN have big plans for the summer with a tune bank that’s bursting at the seams, and exclusive parties lined up for their releases.

US midwestern gem Ilana Bryne is back on Naive and, once again, she's got you covered for grade "A" contemplative-but-propulsive groovers, perfectly timed for these trying days. Like her debut EP "Low Earth Orbit" from last year, "Strange Adventure" layers sharp rhythms and playful touches with ethereal atmospheres and open spatiality. But stagnating she is not; her pristine production turned even brighter on this one, reaching a level of sonic and compositional finesse that has to be heard to be believed. 

Profound musical influences come through in this premiere's 'Used To Love T H E M', through echoes of Chicagoans like Glenn Underground, Gemini, and Boo Williams, tempered to perfection with the floaty atmospherics and chopped breaks of LTJ Bukem and other masters of liquid DNB. Delicate synth sequences illustrate loving dialogues between bass bin-busting subs and suspended Rhodes chords or airy pads, traveling through dynamic arrangements, with the odd moment of suspense done fresh.
