i-DJ: so extra voguing mix

@Ami-Dang is a South Asian-American vocalist, sitarist and producer living in Baltimore. Her work fuses ambient, trance and electronic music with instruments from her native India. For her new album, Parted Plains -- a stunning instrumental sitar record -- Ami took inspiration from both South Asian and Middle Eastern folktales and the Western interpretations of them; resulting in not a culture clash, but a beautiful project that sits somewhere in between. Fully impressed, we asked her to make us a mix.
 
“I put together a combination of ambient, experimental and noisy electro tracks from artists from Baltimore, India, and a couple from artists (from elsewhere) working with electronics and South Asian instruments and sounds, like sitar and harmonium,” she says of the mix. “It kicks off with some poetry from Ellen Klowden over a serene jam: the recording of her voice is the exact one she sent to me via an Instagram message after she did some energy work, like Reiki, on me in the Owen Rose Garden after sunset on the Willamette River in Eugene, Oregon. Her poem “Aura Dancing" is the perfect way to enter the zone of this mix.”

Playing at cult London night Chapter 10 earlier in the year, she created live remixes of all of her best singles. To celebrate the release of the resulting EP – out 6 December via London's Wolf Tone records – and Chapter 10's final night at longtime home Bloc this Saturday, here's what she played that night.

On February 6th, 2021, over 800 unique artists came together to create a single charity compilation in 24 hours. Taking advantage of the fact that this would be the only FORM All Nighter event of the year, each participant went all-out. 45 of the most stellar tracks were hand-picked to create an album that’s phenomenal front-to-back— from math rock, to gritty electronic, to chiptune.

All Nighter Vol. 6 is a reflection of creativity, teamwork, and the sleepless delusion that comes with staying up all night— but most of all, it’s a reflection of our community. We couldn't ask for a better one.

All profits from All Nighter Vol. 6 will be donated to Prevent Child Abuse America.
