Using a vocal chop from an older song, I created something new. I also experimented with filter envelopes in Ableton!

Endgame

[Update 2: I went back and added some more variation to the middle section of the song and extended the ending slightly.]

[Update 1: I added a few more transitional elements between parts I thought sounded empty]

This time I decided to make a song with a faster tempo than I usually do (120bpm as opposed to 100bpm). I think this is a song that would fit well in a space shooter game.

This song makes uses of dial-up sounds and the "You've got mail" sound effect from classic AOL.

Ethereal

I did a cover of one of my favorite video game songs Mabe Village from Link’s Awakening. This song holds a special place for me as Link's Awakening was the very first game I ever played. I slowed the tempo down substantially and added some reverb to my synths for a dreamlike sound.

A crazy track with a funky melody and a bunch of different instruments.

Watch Out!

I used a voice sample kit from cymatics.fm and chopped it up to make the samples for the vocals on this track. I also added in some samples of my voice that make up the "wah" sounds in the background. The iphone app Koala was used to alter my voice samples into something that was useable.
