Reared among the three cultures of Brazil, Mexico and the Southwest United States, Poranguí was steeped in various traditional forms of music, healing and ceremony since birth. Weaving ancestral songs & indigenous rhythms from around the world as a one-man orchestra, Poranguí bridges the healing properties of sound and movement to foster our individual and collective well being.

Many thanks to Bobby McFerrin, Roger Treece, Joey Blake, Rhiannon & all the other Voicestra members, Kristian Skårhøj, Albert Hera, Juan Garcia, Johanna Seiler, Bertrand Gröger, Julian Knörzer, Wolfgang Vossen, Britta Wiese and many other musicians for their inspiration over the last years, from which I have recovered here some ideas, approaches and material, to study it in detail and to develop also own ideas.

Frank Ebeling laid the first foundations of his later musical activity in pre-school age during nightly up-and-down-singing of Burt Bacharach and former television theme songs under his bedcover. “For his age, still very playful” it said in his first school report.

As a teenager, the native of the Lower Rhine Area in Germany spent days, weeks and months by reproducing several Beatles and Zappa pieces meticulously on a Philips N4506 tape machine by overdubbing, using a simple acoustic guitar, tin cans, cleaning buckets, the neighborhood kids, an oscillator from the electronics-experimental-kit and father’s homeorgan.

This was followed by tenthousands of kilometers of motorhighway, which gave Ebeling an intensive study of percussion and drumming to CD-playbacks of Bill Bruford, Peter Erskine and Vince Mendoza. – The steering wheel of his Daihatsu Charade had an excellent Snarresound because of lack of airbags.

In the recent years, Ebeling worked in various ensemble projects with Bobby McFerrin and Markus Stockhausen. He initiates and manages Choir-Projects and Circlesinging-Workshops.
