The strange white rabbit and the mysterious Cheshire Cat, the fat Duchess, the egg faced Humpty Dumpty and the fabulous Jabberwocky, the extincted Dodo or the rowdy twins Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum: By no means are they nice figures out of a harmless children's story, but ludicrous representatives of a bizarre logic of the absurd and of an underlying desire. The mathematician, writer and photographer Lewis Carroll invented them to entertain his little girlfriends and collected their stories in the two novels „Alice in Wonderland“ and „Through the Looking Glass“, which became classics of the world literature.

„Songs for Alice“ extracts the poems from both volumes and transforms them into scenes and songs. Puppeteer and musicians carry us off into a somnambulant twilight zone of imagination and moments of revelation which show, why Carroll's Texts aren't just great children's literature but also inspired a diversity of artists like the writer James Joyce, surrealists like André Breton, the cognitive scientist Douglas R. Hofstadter or the British comedy group Monty Python. Directed by Hendrik Mannes this production walks the line between theatre and concert with soulful hits and noisy explosions, expressive puppets and poetic machines, quiet moments and great ballyhoo, catchy tunes and last dances.

Sofie Winterson - dreamy indie-pop from Amsterdam (NL)

Sofie Winterson creates her own musical world with atmospheric synths, guitars with a lot of reverb and her enchanting voice. For her new music she has drawn inspiration from a mix of shoegaze, dream pop and folk acts such as Mazzy Star, Beach House, Alvvays, Big Thief, Whitney and Real Estate. Her fanbase has expanded steadily since her first releases. She played several times at SXSW and toured extensively along the West Coast. Sofie is a Dutch artist who recently moved to Los Angeles, where she has found like-minded people. In 2015, she drew attention to herself with the beautiful video of ‘Dreams’, a melancholic coming-of-age video that appeared through Nowness. The following year she was part of the Red Bull Music Academy in Montreal. At the tail end of 2018 she released another full length, entitled ‘Sophia Electric’. After writing this record completely by herself it was time for a collaboration. She started writing music together with producer Benny Sings and this resulted in the beautiful 4 track EP ‘Moral’ (2019).



Not only is Sofie Winterson an acclaimed artist, she also worked with great success on the album 'Imaginary Lines' by Fatima Yamaha, the 'Close My Eyes' EP by Rimer London and the single 'Lift Me From The Ground’ by San Holo
