Dutch artist Bas Dobbelaer, whose star has been shining brightly in recent years, is gracing us with his full-length masterpiece, "Binding Elements," courtesy of the beloved Something Happening Somewhere imprint. This label has been instrumental in nurturing Bas's talent over the years, and it's only fitting that he returns to its fold with a stunning ten-track album that truly showcases his evolution as an artist.

"Binding Elements" is a journey that embodies Bas Dobbelaer's growth and dedication to his craft. The album is an odyssey tailored for moments of introspection or leisurely movement, inviting listeners into dub electronica and ambient worlds. With a deliberate focus on sound design and an unwavering attention to the finer details, Bas Dobbelaer's work on this album is nothing short of a revelation.

Among the tracks on this remarkable album, we are thrilled to premiere "Submerge." This track showcases Bas's ability to create music that feels like a deep expedition into uncharted waters. "Submerge" is an auditory journey where two sequences intertwine and effortlessly hover above a deep, pulsating groove, accompanied by vibrant sub-frequencies that resonate with power. Silent Servant is the primary pseudonym of California electronic artist Juan Mendez, who produces techno with a heavy post-punk/industrial influence. He first began releasing material as Silent Servant during the mid-2000s, when he was a key member of the influential techno collective Sandwell District. Following numerous well-received underground singles, he made a major impact on the techno world with Negative Fascination, his acclaimed 2012 full-length debut. Following Mendez's co-founding of the Jealous God label in 2013, as well as several singles and collaborations with the likes of Marcel Dettmann and Phase Fatale, Silent Servant released his second album, the more overtly EBM-influenced Shadows of Death and Desire, in 2018.  2023 sees Mendez continuing to Play the US and Europe, New releases On L.I.E.S., Tresor and maintaining his sixth year of the Optimistic Decay radio show on NTS.

About his favorite track:
Dana Kelley "House Down," the second-to-last track on this mix. Originally released in 1999, re-issued by Chiwax in 2023. This track is such a hypnotic groove monster. As one user on Discogs aptly describes it, Kelley demonstrates an exceptional skill in controlling the intensity of the music, like a master holding a fierce beast on a tight leash.

Far Out Radio Systems, the brainchild of Belgian producer Thomas Neyens is about to take you on a journey unlike any other. His upcoming album, "Mariana No Death," plunges you into the inky depths of the Mariana Trench, where solace and sonic exploration collide.

This four-track sampler is your first taste of the album's immersive world. It features two album tracks and two exclusive cuts: the pulsating, analog beast "Raingods" and the hypnotic, slow-motion "The Oracle Emile" – perfect for late-night dives.

However, our focus today is on "Inside The Horizon," the opening track of the sampler, and the grand finale of "Mariana No Death." True to Neyens' signature sound, it features warm, analog broken beats, ethereal vocals, and melancholic pads. Clave hits echo in the distance like raindrops, adding a beautiful touch and keeping the rhythm alive. It's a melancholy yet triumphant return for Far Out Radio Systems.

"Inside the Horizon" drops on February 23rd, followed by the full "Mariana No Death" LP on March 22nd via Something Happening Somewhere.

"Niet Zonder Reden", Birdguy's debut album on Something Happening Somewhere, seems to revolve around unfinished business. The Utrecht-based artist evokes life events that have seemingly left him a little broken, a little lopsided, but with an eye for tender beauty. It's the portrait of a man in the progress of finding light at the end of a tunnel.

Songs flutter in and out of focus like passing thoughts on a long walk, seemingly cobbled together from fragments of melody and memory alike. "Ongeveer Daar" does not simply tell you about heartbreak, Birdguy's performance is drenched in it, and it hits you like a gut punch. Meanwhile, Birdguy's buzzing lofi beats keep the album moving along, preventing the listener from getting lost in the darkness. "Niet Zonder Reden" is bittersweet, earnest and keeps you on your toes throughout.
