This immersive collaboration between the UK based musician, Andrew Heath and French musician, Christian Wittman charts a musical voyage that explores themes of great tides that rise and fall and of air currents that flow between lands and seas. 

Dense clouds and currents of electronic sound are permeated with sharp, pin-pricks of percussion and modular noises with drifting piano, both electric and acoustic along with guitar notes that float above the maelstrom. All bound with field recordings that resonate sympathetically alongside the drifting tones. 

Sometimes light, sometimes dark - evoking the contrast between the apparent calm of the sea, and the dynamics and flows that unfold, both in depth and in the air, creating organic and immersive soundscapes, aerial and underwater at the same time. 


As well as many solo releases under his own name, Andrew has collaborated with artists including legendary German musician, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, experimental electronic and classical composer, Christopher Chaplin, Dutch ambient guitarist, Anne Chris Bakker, Argentinian composer Mi Cosa de Resistance and UK artists, Toby Marks (Banco de Gaia), James Osland and Simon McCorry. Menou, the alias of Japanese artist Makiko Iwaki, creates soundspheres that evoke deep emotions and introspection. Her productions and live performances explore the subtle intricacies of ambient and deep drone music, carefully layering sounds to reveal delicate shifts and textures. With a focus on emotional depth, Menou’s work invites listeners into a space of quiet reflection, where sounds breathe and evolve organically. While her live sets primarily center around ambient and drone elements, she also incorporates experimental and deep techno influences. Under her Menou alias, she performs live, while her DJ sets are presented under the name iwamaki.

Time flies when you’re having fun. Or when you’re deeply immersed in music, like we are at SoHaSo. Because we missed our own birthday! A decade of Something Happening Somewhere almost went by without any birthday cakes or celebration. So here’s something joyful. 

To mark our 11th birthday, we present 11 tracks to be released on 11.11. The album contains 11 echoes, each a highlight from the journey of our label.

"Of course, it's impossible to pick just 11 highlights from 55 releases”, says label owner Nuno Dos Santos. “But these 11 tracks are truly special to me."

The compilation opens with our first-ever release from Love Over Entropy in November 2013—an immersive, hypnotic stormer that relentlessly builds to epic proportions. Even after all these years, it hasn’t lost an ounce of its charm or energy.

Another standout is the wonderfully wonky Endure by Utrecht-based knob-tweaker Vela Uniform. This track recalls the glory days of Warp’s Artificial Intelligence series—yes, it’s that good.

We also revisit the dubby Detroit minimalism of Luna Ludmilla, and the reissue of our collaborative EP with Lossless, featuring King Britt’s timeless track from 2002. “A sonic narrative that has captivated me since its release, it remains just as fresh and uplifting 22 years later. It felt only right to share its transformative beauty with a wider audience.”

Then, there's Dave Angel’s legendary Original Man, originally released in 1993. “With its innovative rhythm programming and orchestral arrangements, it still feels as groundbreaking now as it did 30 years ago”, Nuno says. 

Closing the compilation is Kurt Baggaley’s Former Self, a 13-minute journey that seems to stretch time itself. As it drifts along, the boundary between reality and dream blurs, leaving listeners suspended in an entrancing, esoteric haze.

11 days after Echoes, SoHaSo will also release Horizons. A compilation of 11 new tracks where the Utrecht-based label looks ahead, to the future.
