COD3 QR is a broad-format record label run by French techno legend Laurent Garnier and UK techno wiz Oliver Way (from Detroit Grand Pubahs). It's quite unique in that it releases almost monthly EPs each with a handful of tracks spanning different styles from future jazz to techno to electro or bass.

This model is perfect for curious, adventurous music lovers and has unearthed some amazing emerging artists for me like French artist Voltaire, and given modern icons like Kmyle and Carlos Nilmmns an outlet for their wacky sonic creations. COD3 QR is one of the best labels for discovery of new sounds and artists and well worth checking their Bandcamp - especially for their limited vinyl releases.

Guest Mix 117 is a live recording of the 2nd Blank Wave anniversary event with dear friends and Berlin-based DJ and producer duo Local Suicide who have been active in the electronic music scene since first teaming up in 2008. The Greek-German couple initially gained recognition through their events across Berlin before capturing global attention with their eclectic DJ sets combining new wave, Italo, indie dance, post-disco, EBM, and dark techno.

Recognized as one of the key figures in the dark disco scene, Local Suicide’s impressive discography spans over 200 tracks. Berta began his career in the mid 90s, when his cassette collection and school parties led him to the DJ booth. Even in his early days, he was keen to experiment with electronic sounds: in addition to house and trance, his musical interests were wide-ranging.
In the early 2000s, Satoshi Tomiie's mix album Nubreed 006 had a life-changing effect on him. From that point on, progressive house became his defining style, while he also dabbled in deep, tech-house, and electro from time to time.
During these years, he became a regular member of the Jóképűklub party series in Kecskemét, which was an important milestone in his musical development and growth in local popularity. In addition, as the founder of djmixes.hu, he played a significant role in building the domestic electronic music community; at the time, the site provided an important platform for DJs and music fans alike.
Straight from Kecskemét, Berta quickly became a defining figure in the electronic music scene in Dabas. He received his first invitation from Simi (Founder of Natural Selection series, and a definite person of the local electronic music scene) around 2004 to a private Selection party at the Kardos-tanya, where he was immediately captivated by the audience and the atmosphere of the place. After that, he performed at numerous local private and public events as part of the Selection team.
It was during this period that Secret Sound was born, which soon found its home at the Kakas Hangár in Dabas. Berta could be heard at almost every Secret party, and over time he was welcomed as an honorary member of Secret.
During his career, he performed in almost every corner of the country, in smaller and larger clubs and at private events, including the legendary Klub Korona in Kecel. He also made a name for himself internationally: audiences in Baia Mare, Romania, called him back several times. He was also a regular guest on various radio shows, including Justmusic.fm, Pulzár, Gong, and Trió.
This year, we saw him behind the decks in Dabas. He also took part in the Uncompromising 8th birthday party, where he was given the warm-up role.

Fresh off his latest release on Haven Trax, he already has a new EP lined up. Nuno Dos Santos may be a house producer but he certainly isn't a one-trick-pony. On his new EP Hidden Beaumise, the Utrecht-based artist casually introduces speed garage elements. He incorporates these angular West London rhythms into the title track, which ultimately develops into a beautiful and atmospheric house floater. ‘It is an ode to a very special person in my life,’ Dos Santos says about Hidden Beaumise.

The B-side, Dual Code, is melancholic in a different way. Deliciously fluid house with effective Detroit strings and delicate pads from the Roland D50, a synthesiser that has been around for almost 50 years. If this record was indeed made for someone special, it very likely hit the right spot.
