We do like it when Dutch dance veterans go through their old DAT-tapes. It's like digging for gold, which is often found. On the Dreech EP on SoHaSo Records, DJ Remy takes us back to his RoXY days. That time when we all ate strobes for breakfast and recognized a Pump Up The Jam-sample whenever we saw one. Opener 'Lost DAT One' is a gem. Remy proves he still packs a punch today, with the freshly produced breakbeat infused 'Stampkramp'.

Remy shares this vintage feel-EP with Joannes, a techno producer from the north of The Netherlands who has a fetish for hardware and a keen ear for oldschool house sounds. Cowbells and handclaps are plentyful on his two takes, and so is humour. On the fast-paced 'Claps for Richie' he builds and builds to a blissful liquid break, only to cut it short. What a guy. And what a great EP.

I am happy to present out first tape release by The Jaffa Kid as part of the brand new Digital Artefacts series.

The series is an ode to the sound of the 90s, from Electro, IDM and Jungle to further different experimental stuff and sounds. The choice of tape as format seemed fitting for the aesthetic of the series.

The first EP comes from UK based The Jaffa Kid (previously on 030303, Dischi Nottetempo, Gated Recordings and more) and is a solid mixture of Electro, Techno and beyond.

Music has always been a fundamental pillar of his life. Starting with his father's jazz, rock and punk cassettes, he quickly developed a passion for various genres. This is still reflected in his sets today, as he is not afraid to experiment with different styles and build bridges between them. At the moment, romantim's sound can be defined as a mix of oldschool tribal, crunchy breakbeats and 90s trance with always a good amount of hips shaking grooves included.
