This song, Half-Crazy, could be described as the tenacious offspring of the North African desert music of Mali/Morocco and the sweat and electricity of the Chicago and Mississippi Delta blues. That music is like a stem-cell, really open to going in many directions. On this track, we wired the harp through a dirty little amplifier. I played my early 40's Oahu lap-steel. Andrew uses a loping high-hat feel, and the electric bass pushes the whole thing. The lyrics got a nudge from our friend Nathan Moore--we're all half-crazy, half clear as a bell.

Multi-format collection of «A Song for Theo’s animals» consists of 30-minute documentary film, a fragment of a video diary, two video loops, music video and a condensed documentation of the performance recorded in the pavilion Cosmos on July 11, 2014 during the exhibition «Kinetic life of sandy beaches» by the Dutch artist Theo Jansen.

Each form is independent, the video reveals a given task form. The project is an artistic research, as well as recycle and intervention into «an exhibition life». On the one hand – a volunteer position at the exhibition, documenting the events. On the other – the introduction of personal interpretations to the existing context.

The documentary film task is to show not the romantic side of Theo Jansen works, but the everyday realities surrounding the exhibition space: supervisors and security guards problems, migrant workers... staff and visitors. The narrative is from the first person.

The task of the music video and two video loops (coub)is to operate the «digested» volunteer experience from the exhibition and further flirtation with the context. To show the absurd mess of characters: the exhibition venue, as circumstances and other factors specific to the entertainment genre, which in turn inspired by the style of the exhibition – a populist, entertainment.

Performance «A song for Theo’s animals» plays a reflexive role of the artist/musician.

Part of the release is available online for free watching, the film «Probably Art» can be viewed only on a tape released by VHS Records.

Разноформатный сборник «Песенка для животных Тео» состоит из документального 30-ти минутного фильма, фрагмента видео дневника, 2-х коубов, клипа и сокращенной документации перформанса, записанного в павильоне Космос 11 июля 2014 во время выставки «кинетическая жизнь песчаных пляжей» голландского художника Тео Янсена.

Каждая форма самостоятельна, видео раскрывает заданную форме задачу. Проект является художественным исследованием, а так же переработкой и вмешательством «жизни выставки». С одной стороны — позиция волонтёра на выставке, документирующего события. С другой — внедрение личных трактовок в существующий контекст.

Так в сборнике есть документальный фильм, задача которого показать не расхожий романтический ореол работ Тео Янсена как пример отношения к искусству в целом, а окружающие выставку реалии: мирские проблемы смотрителей выставки, гастарбайтеров, охранников… — обслуживающего персонала и посетителей выставки. Повествование о быте вокруг выставки ведется от первого лица.

Задача музыкального видео и 2-х коубов (coub) оперирует «переваренным» опытом пребывания волонтером на выставке и дальнейшим заигрыванием с контекстом. Показать абсурдность, кашу из символов: выставки, места ее проведения, обстоятельств и других специфических факторов в развлекательном жанре, что, в свою очередь, навеяно стилем выставки — популистским, развлекательным.

Перформанс «песенка для животных Тео» играет роль рефлексирующей, музыкальной стороны художника/музыканта.

Часть релиза «Песенка для животных Тео» доступна в сети для свободного просмотра, фильм «Близко к искусству» можно посмотреть только на кассете, выпущенной VHS records.
