'Detective Silence Solo' is the first result of an ongoing collaboration between bassoonist Olivia Palmer-Baker and myself. The first and longer version of this piece was premiered on the 27th August 2020 at the Royal Academy of Music, London.

The live premiere of the solo version took place on the 11th June 2021 in Milan as part of the Divertimento Ensemble's 2021 season.

Junloop is an audio collage, taking inspiration from the UK dance music scenes of the 2010s, 2000s and 1990s. The musical material is formed with hundreds of digitally modified samples which are arranged in ways that mimic each other. Distinct, spliced and irregular jungle drum pattens float over granular acoustic and digital textures ranging from spliced harps and flutes to artificially formanted and distorted pads. The seven distinct sections either morph into each other through the use of digital techniques or simply ‘cut’ to the next scene with usually a brief flurry of activity aimed at disorientating the listener before arriving at the next passage.  This piece is written for contemporary digital audio workstation.
