The latest release on Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint finds the label showcasing new interpretations of ‘Kafka’ by Ercos Blanka. Originally released in March of this year, it was the lead piece on the third installment of the label’s popular ‘Correlation’ series. Well received by fans and tastemakers alike, its deep, organic musicality resonated throughout the electronic underground, reaching over 1.5 million streams on Spotify in a six-month span. Now looking to refresh the track for the fall season, Sound Avenue invites Arina Mur, LADS and Francisco Aguado to provide their own unique interpretations. 

Making her label debut and providing the first interpretation of ‘Kafka’ is Arina Mur. Since making her production debut just two years ago, the Russian artist has found a home on Anjunadeep, Akbal Music and Seven Villas. Also an accomplished DJ, Arina has had the honour of opening for top international talents such as MANDY, Pablo Bolivar, Gorje Hewek and Izhevski. Now making her much anticipated Sound Avenue debut, she puts her own unique twist on ‘Kafka’. Redolent rhythms, exotic percussion and hazy harmonics set the course for this enchanting journey. Mounds of perfectly contoured bass roll forward with capsizing swing, as emerging atmospheres and clustered chimes smoothly shift energy into a glowing break. Reflective and hopeful, the centrepiece furthers the poignant narrative, eventually resetting the groove for a spirited final movement.

Next up and also making their label debut are LADS. Hailing from Germany and South Africa respectively, the duo has a meticulous discography highlighted by releases on Lost & Found, Magician on Duty, Nie Wieder Schlafen and Rebellion Der Traumer, where their intricate yet dreamy sound has flourished. Now making their first appearance on Sound Avenue, LADS take ‘Kafka’ into groovy territory. Deep yet robust, the piece flows through a storyboard of undulating bass, chunky rhythms and fragmented design, before shifting energy into an otherworldly break. Nostalgic in nature, the centrepiece projects an optimistic radiance, as waves of percussion and emerging rides cue a pulsating finale.

The release concludes with Francisco Aguado making his label debut and providing the third and final interpretation of ‘Kafka’. The Spanish artist has found a home on Apnea Label, Greyscale and Seven Villas, where he has showcased his dubbed-out brand of deep house. Now following the release of his latest Apnea vehicle ‘Coincidences of Life’, Francisco debuts on Sound Avenue with a hypnotic rendition of ‘Kafka’. Beginning with organic beats and dusty percussion, it’s the meditative nature of the groove which becomes instantly compelling. Pulsating and full of great character, it anchors what is a dubby yet musical slice of deep techno. Shifty harmonics marry clustered pianos across a nine-minute storyboard, for what results in a charming late-night journey. A heady interpretation from the Spanish artist, which rounds out a welcome remix edition for Ercos Blanka’s ‘Kafka’.

Inspired by visiting the iconic London clubs Turnmills, Fabric  and Ministry of Sound he started his music production journey writing Trance music under the name ‘Millamber’ releasing several tracks in the early 2000s. After a break and with new musical influences his sound has evolved keeping the same melody and emotion, however more rooted in Melodic House and Techno. His debut EP ‘Watching the Sky’ has been released on the Deeper Love label in 2018 and he has gone on to release music on Right Music Records, Capital Heaven, Routine Espresso and Ready Mix records."

Kaleidoscopic colours radiate across Frankfurt skyline; "Dusk 28" opens a world of possibilities for Jannis Brinkmann and Naldoe. Shimmering synth lines blink in stratified layers of sound that bleed into each other like the evening sky. A stream of consciousness pours out in cadenced vocal, that lilts gently into the night air.

'Dusk' takes on a new character over the distinctive features of Berlin. An innovative sonic architecture is revealed as sun makes way for moon via the sounds of Robin Schellenberg. Familiar melodic tropes emerge in the gloaming before radiating outward in new warm shades. Ice cool refrains cascade across a new landscape as Chook creates a dark soundscape that beckons the darkness while chopped vocals and new melodies drive relentlessly forward alongside a menacing analogue bassline. A vivid image of London is seared in the mind's eye; a glorious 'Dusk' courtesy of Nichols creates a thickly textured sonic palette. Meanwhile co-owner, Matter, makes his solo debut for the rapidly rising label via the unique musical triptych of ‘Amanita’.

From his Melbourne home, Matty Doyle has generated a tsunami of success through his Matter production moniker. Able to point to a release portfolio with over 400 production credits to his name, such esteemed imprints as Balance, Anjunadeep, BeatFreak Recordings and Proton Music have all played host to his much sought-after music.

Now creating a new narrative for his unrivalled talents within his co-owned Meanwhile label, alongside fellow countryman, GMJ, ‘Amanita’ is redolent in trademark production features that have seen Matter is such high demand. A smooth blend of rolling percussive groove, heavy beat and cavernous bassline propel the title track forward with unrelenting pace, as a filtered arpeggio adds to the aural melange. A glorious synth lead enters the fray at the mid-point breakdown before a rousing wall of sound marks a club-friendly zenith before the track builds once more with its star-studded cast of musical characters.

The heavy beat and white-noise washes of ‘Hikikomori’ provide a weighty anchor, allowing an immaculately programmed bassline groove to weave its path between four-to-the-floor rhythm and offbeat hi-hat shuffle. A pulsating, running bassline immediately characterizes ‘Wormhole’ as it dynamically develops, courtesy of an intelligently placed melodic variation that provokes a spine-tingling emotion in the listener. An array of percussive shakers and chest-thumping kick create a spellbinding sonic palette, while a free-flowing synth line drenched in reverb and delay adds to the emotion playing off the filtered and now staccato bassline phrase. Creating a flawlessly executed progressive house anthem, Matter has once again demonstrated why his production work draws such high praise from fans and peers alike.

Within a career that continues to mushroom at impressive pace, ‘Amanita’ exhibits all the qualities that sees Matter very much flavour of the month, repeatedly.
