To move to a new city is to have the chance to live many things for the first time. Of all of them, the Front Republic festival was without a doubt the highlight of my move to Montreal. The people, the freedom, the music and everything in-between has made dreams become reality and vice-versa.

This is a recording of the set I played opening the stage on Saturday afternoon under perfect sunshine and scenery ☀️ Dancers, swimmers and beautiful souls of all kinds gathered to kickoff the second day. This set explores deeper and transcendental sounds while remaining warm and inviting for the afternoon.

I am beyond grateful to have been part of this festival and community, hats off to the FrontRite crew for making this possible. Whether it's for music or to hand out grilled cheeses you can count on me to be there in 2023 ❤️ Until then, see you on a dancefloor in Montreal or Quebec!

For our 124th episode of So It Goes Radio, we're excited to have Pedro Capelossi back for his second guest mix.  The Brazilian born - Spaniard naturalized, Barcelona based artist has forged a distinctive sound which focuses on inventive use of atmosphere and rhythm, drawing the lines between global dance cultures without adhering to any fixed formula.

Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas has been a primary vehicle for Pedro's far-reaching work, with additional projects via Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Madloch’s Sound Avenue among other specialized labels such as Loot Recordings, TOR (When We Dip) and Hoomidas Records highlighting his resume.

Over the years Pedro's tracks have counted on support from recognizable names such as Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Eelke Kleijn, Pablo Bolívar, Armen Miran, Matt Darrey and Airwave just to name a few.

We have a huge amount of respect for Pedro and it brings us great joy to have him return for another outstanding mix.  Enjoy!

So It Goes Radio #124 - Pedro Capelossi

Based in Tunisia, Different Ray returns to Loot Recordings with his first proper EP after several contributions to the label’s “The Goods” compilation series. The release showcases Different Ray’s exceptional talent and features stunning remixes from Madraas, Mark Slee and Alex Donofrio.
The original serves as the centerpiece of the release with deep organic rhythms characterized by lush piano chords, melodic synth arrangements and a deep grooving bass line that radiates warmth. Alex Donofrio’s hypnotic and mesmerizing vocals are layered with Different Ray’s rich textures, creating a sonic tapestry that is both immersive and transcendent. The dub version offers a stripped back version that incorporates main elements of the original peppered with sparse samples of Alex’s distinct vocals.
The “Madraas Dub” is an exquisite interpretation that is both beautiful and entrancing. Crisp percussion and twinkling melodies create an ethereal atmosphere, while the vocal is playfully manipulated with deep delays, pitch shifts and a touch of the surreal that results in a beautifully twisted dub mix.
Mark Slee turns up the energy and incorporates powerful analog synths, percussive elements, acid-infused melodies and the enchanting piano riffs from the original. Mark skillfully finesses the vocal, infusing it with reverberated effects and chopped up elements that give the track a distinct and irresistible sound, making it a dance floor weapon of choice.
The EP gracefully concludes with the “Alex Donofrio Late Night Version”, a gorgeous downtempo chill-out rendition by Alex Donofrio himself. It’s the perfect soundtrack for those serene sunsets or late-night moments to unwind and get lost in the sounds.

This tribute highlights the journey of Julian Nates, an Argentine DJ, producer, and drummer. 

He embarked on his musical path at 4, mastering the violin and piano before shifting his focus to drums. His dedication led him to a formal education at a renowned music conservatory in Córdoba. 

At 23, Nates pivoted towards electronic music, committing to extensive training as both a DJ and producer. In 2019, he marked his international DJ debut at a Valhalla event in Barcelona.
