Kiirtan is the singing of a mantra aloud while ideating on the Supreme Being. It inculcates the feeling of bliss and prepares the mind for meditation, because in performing it all the motor and sensory organs are engaged and directed towards the Supreme. It can be done anywhere, any time, but the best time is just before meditation.
The mantra used for kiirtan is: Bábá Nám Kevalam
Bábá means “my most beloved One,” Nám means “name of” or “to identify with”, and Kevalam means “only”. So the meaning of the mantra is “My most Beloved is the only One.” The ideation is: “Everywhere I look, in everything I hear, feel, see, taste and smell, I perceive that one Supreme Consciousness which pervades all things.”
Kiirtan has many benefits. It purifies the mind and prepares it for meditation, accelerating the speed of movement toward the Supreme.

1. Soaring High Kiirtan

Avarta Kiirtan is a beautiful kiirtan practice where the person does kiirtan facing all six directions (North, East, South, West, Above and Below). In this Avarta Kiirtan session I have recorded 6 six simple tunes that are easy to follow. With the beginning or each tune face a new direction. Once you again return to the north position ideate above you and below you for the last 2 tunes and endlessly flow in the Bliss of Baba Nam Kevalam.

Kiirtan is the practice of chanting the names of God and originated in the Rahr region of India in ancient times. Shrii Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486 – 1534) was instrumental in giving Kiirtan the wide popularity it now enjoys.  He also popularized singing Kiirtan while performing the "Lalita Marmika" dance, which is done with the hands raised overhead to symbolize self surrender to the Supreme Consciousness that permeates the Universe and beyond.

"Baba Nam Kevalam" is a Kiirtan mantra given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in 1970.  Baba means "my most beloved One", Nam means "name of" or "to surrender" and Kevalam means "only".   While singing and dancing the feeling should be "I surrender to my most Beloved Entity" 

The idea is that everything is a manifestation of Pure Consciousness and everywhere my senses can reach, I perceive That one Supreme Consciousness which pervades all things.  Love is all there is.

Felix Felicis Kiirtan (The Best Day Ever)

My first multi track recording by me alone! Tried out GarageBand and the new USB microphone I finally got yesterday after waiting 3 weeks for it to arrive from Amazon. This music comes from a tune I learnt that was posted by someone on YouTube a while ago - sorry, I have no idea who the original composer is.  Baba Nam Kevalam is sanskrit for "Love is all there is" and is used to help calm the mind in preparation for meditation.
