Illumination is a record inspired by several physical phenomenons and relationships, quantum mechanics, space, darkness and light. It is a body of work focusing on complex sound frequency experimentations and illuminating questions around consciousness as well as awareness 
- triggered by deep emotions about being a human - reacting to sound and music.
It works with subtle, clear kaleidoscopic musical textures and silhouettes triggered from an unknown place far out in the universe. Just as Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell has experienced the zen-like experience of seeing earth from space to a state of mind also known as the overview effect, 
or Savikalpa Samadhi, some eastern philosophies address the same topic from a different angle. 
Two objects, even far apart from each other in space can be energetically entangled and connected.
Darkness is absence of light. Life and energy is light. Light is invisible until it surfaces. In the zero point sleeps all potential energy. But above all now enjoy the music.

Two big talented and passionate artists, bringing us two groovy, hypnotic and club oriented tracks with the names "Hollow" and "Man".
There aren’t enough words to describe these tracks that would do them the proper justice, each sound and melody on both tracks will find a way in to your heart and into your ears. Rotate’s first release as a vinyl imprint comes as a collective sonic statement of seven chapters. With tracks from all the music crafters of the family, Rotate starts the year with steady momentum, in a collection of different-yet-unified sound that combines wit, fresh attitude and unique musical signatures.

Makcim & Levi Verspeek cut the ribbon with peculiar focus on groove, and a sizzling  atmosphere to match. Their ‘Chickens Night Out’ (A1) works as a cradle for slowly building albeit steady dancefloor motions, without ever forgetting the balance that the use of intertwined warm tones can actually create. Mattia Lapucci grabs the gears of the (already moving) train and keeps it rotating with ‘External’ (A2), adding tips and bits of steady beat programming, joyful chords and filtered, unspoken vocals to a galactic sonic cauldron. 

Gua Camole kicks the flip-side with ‘Drop Out’ (B1), a 4 by 4 excursion to a land of hypnotic rhythms, eerie synth pads and unrecognizable vocal samples that ultimately feed a atmosphere of already great mystery and idiosyncratic acid patterns. ‘Tournikottipannacotta’ (B2) is David Gluck’s take on drum-machine experimentalism and full-toned low-ends in full effect, reminiscent of the early 00’s signature micro-house movement where microscopic sample-cutting and shuffled hi-hats were all the rage.

Cleymoore’s ‘Endless Rotation’ (C1) is a 15-minute journey through startling soundscapes, sweltering synths and his endemic, hand-shifted drum arrangements. Dialogues from a obscure french cult movie ebb and flow throughout the entire arrangement along with Photonz’s pulsating synths, ultimately setting a hypnotic, provocative tone to the second record. 

Loopdeville opens the last side of the compilation with ‘Humo’ (D1), a pulsating, almost cardiac low-end arrangement of kicks and bass stabs that rumble beneath a palette of warm chords and shamanic, humming vocals for pure mental thrill. Andrea Cichecki’s ‘Tethys’ (D2) finishes Rotate’s seven-part story with a fine exercise on sonic delirium and total loss of equanimity. Between the warm, yet slightly lunatic tone of her modular system melodies and soundscapes, there’s a discerning attitude and sharp poise in her drum arrangements, as if making people dance while lost in time and space would be possible. And it is, they keep rotating.

We would like to welcome @Madezh to the @sol-asylum-records series family. He is based in Split, Croatia, Mateo Jelicic aka Madezh is one of the undisclosed heroes for the underground scene in Split. His career began in 2002 by DJing at clubs and events later to become part of the crew of Underground Control between the years of 2006-2011. 
Madezh is an open-minded DJ whom is constantly evolving and does not solely stick to genres like techno, house, etc… but defines music as what is good and what is bad by leaving it to the emotions of what the crowd is feeling at that certain moment on the dance-floor. You can experience these magical moments the most at the legendary Cruise Split Boat parties when Madezh takes over the booth to delve into deeper frequencies and sounds as the sun begins to rise and glisten over the Adriatic sea.
  With a forthcoming release on “Residual” and “u.dig” records, the future looks to be exciting for an artist who has put in a lot of hard work and has surrounded himself with by like-minded people. We are happy to show some of his skills with this wonderful podcast.  Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Dan Curtin join our Sol Asylum Mix Series! 
We're honoured to present this live mix he recorded exclusively for our Series, which will take you on a winding, twisting journey for the next hour!. Turn up, loud and enjoy the ride! 

Dan Curtin’s musical quest began amidst the inception of the techno and house
phenomenon of the early 1990s. From his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio Dan experimented
with a vast number of styles, producing innovative sounds of every variety: from Chicago to
Detroit to the East Coast.

Dan’s considerably impressive discography dates back to 1992 when his first releases on
Detroit’s 33 RPM Records and Belgium’s Buzz motivated him to launch his own production
hub: Metamorphic Recordings. His unwillingness to commit to a singular style was
instrumental to his continuously fresh releases on big players such as Peacefrog, Strictly
Rhythm and Sublime, and Soma while his forward-thinking approach brought him
tremendous support from the likes of Carl Cox, Carl Craig, and many more.

In 2003 Dan's creative instincts provoked him to relocate to the fast-paced music scene of
Berlin which triggered a string of new releases on young, happening labels such as Bass
Culture, Saved, Bosconi and recently on Steffi’s Dolly Dubs. ( listen here )
Over 70 singles, nine albums later Dan is just as innovative and fresh as he has ever been
whether recording under his own name or under one of his many aliases such as
Purveyors of Fine Funk. His refusal to lock himself into one style as well as his unique ability
to collaborate with artists from a variety of genres has helped him to maintain not only his
status as an individual amongst a world of ever-increasingly like-minded musicians but
also his status as a legend over two decades.

Sol Asylum Mix Series 015 - Dan Curtin

The orbits of @zodya and @terrybenedikt intersected in the cosmos of @love-foundation. This encounter led to a close friendship, countless beautiful b2b’s, and exciting projects together. Both share a deep acknowledgment for the importance of music in life and great respect for any form of artistic exploration of consciousness. Their tastes in digging are diverse and no source of inspiration is left unexplored. Seeing them play together may be referred to as synergy.
 
2019 marked the birth of Orbiting Souls, their party series across various venues in Berlin. Orbiting Souls aims to be a platform for the digging culture, original tastes/characters, and aspires to become a multidisciplinary network and music label in the very near future.
 
“This mix is a reflection of their feelings during COVID-19 quarantine. "We are very aware of how fortunate we are to live through these confusing times in Berlin. But quite honestly, we crave a good old analog rave with some good old social closeness, which is why it became fairly uplifting. All of these tracks are very close to our hearts. The process of creating a story out of them was inspiring and liberating, we hope it transmits."
