Welcome to the 109th chapter of the Deep Electronics Podcast. This weeks set is mixed by Dutch DJ Vinsen from The Hague. He mixed a Deep techno set but this time he dropped the BPM to a slower setting making the music more deeper. 

Bio:

Vinsen comes from the city of The Hague. Traveling a lot for work, he listens to electronic music to make the journeys more than just physical; forgetting time and creating moods.
Through years Vinsen has developed a taste for the detailed, deep, atmospheric electronic music. Not limited to a genre, but by emotions. Every set should be a new journey through an ethereal world of sounds and shapes.
Born from the need to have more music like that for himself and his close friends, he started making his own. 
Having build quite the musical archive over time, only since recently he has begin sharing it with the rest of the world. Motivated by positive reactions to go further and share more :)

Balázs Sziklai a.k.a. DEERFEEDER is a Hungarian producer. He has been in and around the Hungarian underground scene for fifteen years now. After releasing his album last year, under the moniker MI-ISH, he is back with something new but this time as Deerfeeder. “All tracks were written for this show. I recorded it all live at my home studio. I recently got a bunch of analogue gear so the sound is rather soft. After this one I`m doing a only dance stuff for a while so I did let it out for a last time. It`s a medley of everything(easy). Synths, Fender Rhodes, Hang drum, Drones, ambient, chill, dub and even some fake jazz.”

4. Dance of The Cosmic Serpent

The title is inspired by anthropologist Jeremy Narby's book " The Cosmic Serpent" in which he suggests among other things that the global network of DNA based life is actually a conscious entity and furthermore that the human mind can enter into communication with this DNA consciousness via trance states, enthogenic experiences etc. and by doing so receive detailed and specific information and wisdom.  (think shamen for example)

The dance of the cosmic serpent in the title refers to the total manifestation of this underlying consciousness via the massive variety of lifeforms on planet Earth including us - human beings.  The total of all lifeforms is the dance, the manifestation of it.

This idea along with an already existing notion of mine to create a track purely based around a strong central melody were combined for this track. I derived the melody from an Arabic sounding scale because to me it sounds kind of wiggley and serpentine and often seems to suggest snake charmer music.

Given that I wanted the tune to be the centre piece I approached the composition in a different manner.  Rather than starting out with the kick and bassline as I often do, instead I sat down with a guitar, decided on the implied harmonic movement ( G major, G# major, F minor) and made sure that I had definitively composed the entire tune before booting up the sequencer. Once I had the melody fixed, I built the track up around it.
