Donato Nicolaci inizia a suonare nel 2000, e dal 2003 al 2011 suona chitarra e synth con i Gualeve, con i quali divide il palco con One Dimensional Man, Santo Niente, Giorgio Canali&Rossofuoco, Bisca, Teatro Degli Orrori, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Sud Sound System, Anansi ( per il quale suona come chitarrista per un concerto). Dal 2011 scrive propri pezzi strumentali e crea Off The Cage: una one-man-band fatta di atmosfere elettro-rock, fra psichedelie visivo-uditive e colpi di loop station, manipolandosi con l'ausilio di chitarra, synth e kaoss pad. more info & booking: donnynicolaci@gmail.com

Donato Nicolaci begins playing in 2000. He plays guitar and synth sounds from 2003 to 2011 with Gualeve, with whom he shares the stage with One Dimensional Man, Santo Niente, Giorgio Canali & Rossofuoco, Bisca, Teatro Degli Orrori, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Sud Sound System, Anansi (for whom he plays guitar in a single concert). SOLCOD è UN PROGETTO NATO NEL 2002 PRENDENDO L’AVVIO DALL’INNER CINEMA, un concept elaborato DA ADI NEWTON NELL’ALBUM dei CLOCK DVA “DIGITAL SOUNDTRACK”. QUESTA SUGGESTIONE PRESENTA IL SUONO E L’UDIRE COME L’ULTIMA E Più SOFISTICATA DELLE MANIFESTAZIONI DEL VEDERE. SOLCOD NON COMPONE BRANI MUSICALI MA SEQUENZE DI IMMAGINI ACUSTICHE. Si potrebbe pensare a dei cortometraggi sonori. Il metodo seguito nel lavoro è in effetti più legato al montaggio cinematografico che alla classica composizione musicale.  ANCHE LA GESTIONE DEI RITMI PRESENTA SPESSO DELLE “ASINCRONIE A TEMPO”, CIOE’ UN INSIEME DI AZIONI RITMICHE CON MODALITA’ DI GIUSTAPPOSIZIONE DEGLI STRUMENTI SIMILE Più A UNO SGUARDO, A delle INQUADRATURE o PANORAMICHE DA CINEMA, CHE ALLO SCHEMA CONSUETO DI UN BRANO MUSICALE  CON TEMI, FRASI E RITORNELLI. UN IMPASTO SONORO talvolta saturo e vagamente dissonante CHE LAVORA ANCHE SULLE MINIME DIFFERENZE E LE RIPETIZIONI DI CAMPIONAMENTI PER EVOCARE SENSAZIONI comunque MAI IDENTICHE CAMBIANDO I CONTESTI. Brani concepiti en PLEIN air, con l’idea di sfuggire al chiuso della sala di registrazione e al buio cibernetico del computer program di cui si avvale.  NELLE ATMOSFERE DI questi “CORTI” sonori si respira ANCHE l’aria dei progetti musicali della metà dei ‘90 di ORB, PSYCHICK WARRIORS  OV GAIA, EXQUISITE CORPSE, LUMUKANDA, ZEN PARADOX, PETE NAMLOCK, AIR LIQUIDE. Nel 2012 SOLCOD e Cyberwest fondano la "KINEOMUSIC", l'ala sonora della KINEOFILM S.r.l., "studio e la ricerca sulla comunicazione audiovisiva"
