JC (SPRFRK) is from Brooklyn, NY via Miami, FL, a dance floor diva-turned-DJ with a presence in the Brooklyn underground queer scene. He’s held a residency at Happyfun Hideaway with his “Sick’ning Fridays” happy hour since 2020. Outside of that, you can usually find him dancing the night away at some function in Brooklyn or at home with his partner and cat. He hopes to continue collaborating with DJs and artists and bring extra flavor with his diverse and eclectic sound to many more dance floors in NYC.

I grew up in Mississippi, started raving at 16 in New Orleans. Music and that time shaped my entire life. Specifically Derrick Carter and U.N.K.L.E. , they soundtracked the next 20 years of my life and influenced me as a producer and DJ. I still carry that influence in my sound today.

More about Chuck:

San Francisco transplant by-way of Los Angeles, Chuck Gunn is a co-founder and resident of QAOTIQ, a queer rave based in California's Bay Area that aims to uplift and champion BIPOC/Trans artists. His fresh and spacey take on house and techno is shaped by the acid, dub and microhouse movements that grew out of 90's minimal techno. Chuck moves through various textures, from rugged terrain, spaced out atmospheres, dub rhythms, all balled up in a bounce & grace that smacks the dance floor again and again, relentless you might say. For many this kind of built pressure can take decades in the DJ booth to develop. Gunn's range and skill can hold down any underground dance floor and it's obvious that we're not the only ones that have taken notice as Chuck plays up and down the West Coast at clubs & festivals alike.

Recording a mix at home is a struggle for me. No beautiful dancers, no lights and no energy exchange can be a hindrance. I’m so thankful this moment was captured live to share with all of you. One deficit all artists have is developing their craft in front of the public eye (and ears). Being a recovering perfectionist also adds to the struggle. Everything you do is analyzed and judged. With a live mix there’s no take 2 and no do-overs. You’re completely naked and vulnerable. I’m slowly learning to welcome the flaws in the things I create and embrace the process.
I hope this set stirs something  inside of you as it did with me when it was recorded. It’s full of all of my favorite things in music and I hope it finds you tapping your foot or shaking your backside.

March FEVER was also special because for the first time we partnered with local artist, Ron Abram for the ad design and now mix cover art. The illustration shown is entitled Detail, Wrangler Series of Etchings, 2023. You’ll be seeing more of Ron’s work with future collabs. Until then follow him on IG @abramgrafiks.
