Experiencing the break up of A Tribe Called Quest was real to me. How could they end something so great? Their music was effortlessly perfect.. Their watery landscapes and drum manipulation (using just 1/4 of a break loop) influenced a whole new style of beat making. A Tribe Called Quest elevated the musicality of Hip-Hop without playing a single note. They were one of the most influential groups, inspiring myself and many others.. this mix is a reflection of that influence and inspiration. -DJ Definit (2008)
