TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ NOT OPERATED

Since 2007, Berlin-based artist Not Operated ( formerly Erta Ale, aka DJ Fresh ) has been a prolific force in the techno scene. He has released a wide range of music under various aliases on his own labels, Solenoid Records and S-Limited, as well as on respected labels like Twirl, Exploited, The Hindie Corporation ( Bogotá ) and Bullfinch, among others.
He has brought his sound to renowned venues such as About Blank, OXI, and Renate in Berlin; AND Club and Modular in South Africa; Radion and Church in Amsterdam; Micro in Sofia to name just a few. He has also appeared frequently on influential radio platforms including HÖR Radio, Red Light Radio ( Amsterdam ) and Rinse FM.
With his "Not Operated" project, he emphasises DAWless live techno performances, relying on an "everything from scratch" philosophy. This approach drives the raw energy and spontaneity that define his exhilarating live shows, where unpredictability and adrenaline take center stage.

Not Operated ( Live ) - Tech Clubbers Podcast #391

This EP was created by extracting segments from Not Operated's live acts, then remixing and balancing them in post-editing. In this EP, you can appreciate the characteristic energy of his LIVE performances, which he himself defines as an "organic act." The execution of his shows is primarily based on an "everything from scratch" approach. Most of his performances are improvised in the moment, creating a strong sense of surprise and spontaneity.

Over the years, Not Operated has developed a highly personal setup, relying solely on analog machines and avoiding the use of sampler machines and computers both on stage and in the studio. These four tracks were extracted from his last two live streaming and club night performances at Renate in Berlin.

Solenoid boasts an extensive catalog of releases in both vinyl and digital formats, spanning from house music to techno. More recently, the focus has shifted to 90s techno and progressive house with influences of trance and acid.

Solenoid regularly showcases its artists through the parties which has already taken place at Renate, Golden Gate and Zur Klappe in Berlin. The goal of Solenoid and its artists is to promote quality rave music, both in productions and primarily in vinyl sets presented by the roster of its artists.

The label's design is curated by the illustrator Tara Deacon and visual artist Riccardo Bernardi, also known as ACONITE.

The distribution is handled by KMA60.
